Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and, hopefully anyway, recreate it...enjoy!

When we find pictures of outdoor seating areas we like, this is something we never thought about. We were looking through some of the ones we've posted over the years (making some plans for next year) and 2nd Man said, "what about at night? How do we sit outside in the evening if it's pitch black outside, we might want light". At the risk of a bad pun, a light bulb went off. We never thought about that! So I started looking online for outdoor seating ideas with, of course, lights.
Now with a a big piece of property, we'd need solar lights most likely as running electrical all over the place is not even a possibility. Anyway, this is pretty and a good reminder for us to plan for lighting too. Ironically, we have a tree that looks almost exactly like this.

Find old chandelier and make into outdoor solar light chandelier and hang from a sturdy tree branch.

DeleteThis is beautiful. I have never had much luck with solar lights. Probably because in N.E. Ohio we dont see the sun! Hope your readers can offer ideas.

DeleteAnd while you're planning your lighting, also be sure to plan for the bugs who will be attracted to your lights! Hopefully, no biting ones...

ReplyDeleteI just said that too. I'll have to do some research on that. We have to have light, and even candles might attract bugs. we'll figure out something.
DeleteWe have these on the dock at the lake place and love them. They are solar lights but feature an on off switch which we use for days we will not be at the lake. I have found I have to wipe the solar panel clean fairly often but we are talking about a lot of dirt, grime, bugs and various bids poo that hit the panel so it is to be expected. I did not stake mine in the ground but have it so the panel is affixed to a south facing boathouse post. It stays lit from nightfall until we go to sleep. Could be much longer than that but we are asleep so who knows!

Well this is a great link too and with firsthand knowledge. Thanks for this, we will check it out. With solar I guess we can do that anytime, no wiring needed. Might just have to work on that this Spring (early Winter). Thanks again!!!

ReplyDeleteAnother idea could be solar twinkle lights - they would look like little stars in the night sky.
Twinkle lights are a great idea too. I've got some research to do!
