PURPLE AND YELLOW FLOWERS, INSPIRATION THURSDAY

Every Thursday we like to post a picture of something we've found online that inspires us to do something similar at the farm.
Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and someday, hopefully anyway, recreate it...enjoy!

Wee have no idea what these flowers are but the reason we saved this photo was because of the color combination.  So often colors are similar or there are reds and oranges and and blues and many other colors in a flower garden or planting area and that's pretty of course.  But only putting two colors together like the person did here is different and really nice.

Who knew purple and yellow and green look great together?

Oh wait!

This could be a Mardi Gras garden!

Be inspired!

  1. Lovely, I believe they both are azaleas, the yellow one is a deciduous type of azalea, and perhaps the lavender one is too, hard to tell from the photo.

    2. Such a beautiful color combination.
If I'm not mistaken I do believe that those are azaleas; the Purple azalea ‘Elsie Lee’ along with a yellow deciduous azalea

  2. A beautiful combination of colors!
I found sites that list flowers by color: https://www.anniesannuals.com/plants/colors/
    and

For the last one, you need to hover the tab "flower colors" and then select the color from the pull-down list.

For wildflowers by color, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center:

  4. Mardi Gras was my first thought. Last year, I planted daffodils and pinkish-purplish tulips. This year the weather is confusing them! I love the contrast of two color of flowers!

    1. Color contrast is so nice to see. Love it.

Tulips are SO pretty, alas they won't grow in our weather.

  5. They look great. We had a 'white' garden for years. I loved the interaction of the whites and the foliage colours. I may revive it.

    1. Oooh a white garden. I love the sound of that. And isn't that similar to a moon garden? The white reflecting the light of the moon? Love it!!!
