MY TWO FAVORITE MACHINES

Off to the farm on this HOT and humid day, ugh, to mow and see what all we can get done.

Might stay inside and do some "inside the house" things as well.  Here is what will be used today, my car and my Zen Machine, my two favorite 4 wheeled machines.  Of course, going to stop off at Home Depot and pick up a few supplies.

Hope your weekend is off to a great start!

    1. Isn't it crazy? I don't mind heat, don't love it, but I don't mind it, but the humidity just makes things SO much worse.

  3. Have a great time and don't get too hot. OK, I know you will get too hot so just stay hydrated while you're too hot!

  4. I am so happy to hear that you love your John Deer . . . I just purchased one for my husband the X350. I had to order it and it won't be here for another week and a half (I'm counting the days). It was a big purchase so it's great to hear that it's a good machine. I also ordered the snow plow attachment . . . hoping that means we won't see snow next winter, LOL.
Stay cool . . . lots of water, sun screen and wear a hat.

    1. Hi there!!!! Ah, the X350. We have the X320 (they didn't have the 350 when we got ours). but yes, we love it. Now I'm not the best with maintenance annually so we set aside a few dollars each month to pay for the annual maintenance. They pick it up for free (at least our local dealer does) and sharpen the blades, change all the plugs, filters, oil, fuses if needed, etc. They even wash it and detail it. This past season it was time for new blades. Of course, that's not included but the labor is and 10% off parts. It's all stuff that I can't easily do or just don't have time to. Snow plow is one attachment we'll never need (unless the climate changes, nervous laugh). But yep, other than a new battery, and some wires that were chewed by mice (when its as kept in a three sided shed) we haven't had any big issues.

  5. It is hot here and not the best air quality so I will be inside until this evening when it is a little more tolerable. My indoor activities will consist of bread baking, laundry cleaning and (wall/ trim) painting.

    1. Mmm, bread baking, we can smell it from here!! Hey, wait, so bread smell, paint smell and laundry soap smell. Your house is sensory overload, ha.

  6. We need only a small push mower for my yard, but my son hasn't been able to use it in a while because we have storms every day. The grass is growing wild.

    Love,

    1. We had the storms every day for weeks last Spring. I understand how the grass can get out of control quickly!! Be safe!!

    1. It's a dangerous combination for sure. After being here for so long, you kind of grow to accept it, you never adapt, you just adjust the things you do and know how to stay cool. But it does cut back on many activities for sure.

  9. It was sooo hot and sooo humid yesterday. I was outside for several hours in the garden and orchard and came in dripping. I hope you took plenty of cool drink breaks.

    1. Wasn't it thought? Ugh, it was SO oppressive. I do stop and get my cold water in a cup on the porch and sit in the rocker and soak it all in. If it's really bad, I just go in and sit in front of the window unit, ha.

  10. Hi 1st Man :) Hope you have/had a nice weekend at the farm and stayed cool. Our weather is rainy and humid, but I'm not complaining since I can still wear my shorts today! It's "clean the house" day here chez nous. I wish we didn't have to use the dryer, but 4 dogs and 3 cats produce lots of hair...it makes the house more humid.

    1. I hear ya, it was cool(ish) inside but still so hot. Hey, we have two cats at the apartment in town (had three at one point) and it's amazing how much hair just appears.

    1. Hi! I'm SO glad we don't have to deal with that in the Winter. If we ever get snow (it's a rarity) everything closes down until it's gone. Even if only an inch, ha. Thanks for stoping by, don't be a stranger, we welcome all!!!

  12. Hi, I love your posts! I'm in the UK here, so it's interesting seeing the different plants and wildlife (and some is surprisingly similar!) Just curious, we have a Jeep Compass; your Jeep looks a bit bigger, but not one of the boxy Jeeps, just wondered what model it is? I do hope you can get your bees sorted out in the future; they seem to be under threat all round the world. Also love your food posts.....

    1. Hello and welcome to you!! The UK. Before I write anything else, thoughts to you guys for everything that has happened over there. Y'all need a break. Hang in there!!

My Jeep I just bought last Fall. Here is the link to the post about it:

      http://twomenandalittlefarm.blogspot.com/2016/11/new-addition.html

It's a 2017 Jeep Cherokee, the Trailhawk edition. It is bigger than the Compass, sort of sits between that and the Grand Cherokee. I LOVE it. It's just the perfect size. Sure it won't fit EVERYTHING we might want but it's been great so far.

We're going to do bees for sure, around here it's best to do it early Spring so we'll order some in the Fall for pickup next Spring. They are so threatened we want to do our little part for sure.

We love doing the food posts too.

Thanks for visiting and don't be a stranger!!!

  13. Thanks for such a nice reply! I was only expecting a sentence from someone I haven't messaged before ... yes, it's troubled times in the UK at present. The situation is complicated; most of us are happy with a multi-cultural society; you always get some people looking for an excuse for violence. There are many rallies and efforts to combat this going on here. And the awful fire in London seems to be a result of cost-cutting; probably contractors charging for more expensive cladding panels and cheaper ones being supplied. (This has not been proved!)

Thanks for the info about the car. We love our Compass; it's a second hand top-of-the-range so we've got heated seats and stuff we'd never had before. We live in the country and had serious flooding about ten years ago now, and bad enough snow-fall while I was still working after that that I left work at about 3 p.m. and only got home after 11 (this is a journey of about 10 miles) so we love having the security of a 4x4 though I think yours is more heavy-duty - and needs to be, judging by your posts.

Look forward to reading more about your farm and seeing the pics!

    1. Aww, we try to reply when we can. Sometimes we miss a few but we try to catch them all. Or it might be a few days but we do get back at some point. It's the same way here in the States. most of us are for the great melting pot that our country is, it's what makes a community. But there will always be those that don't agree, or want to be isolationist. In the end, wouldn't it be better if we just all realize how small our world is and we could all get along? Sigh.

Jeeps are workhorse vehicles for sure. 3-11 in a snowfall? Wow, I would be a nervous wreck by the time I got home. I haven't had to use the 4x4 yet but the day is coming I'm sure, ha.

Thanks for stopping by! We try to post everyday, sometimes on the weekend if it's busy when we (or I) are at the farm, we might only post once, but barring unforeseen technical difficulty, there will always be a Monday post, ha.
