Several of you asked about the fruit trees and how they are doing. So here are some pictures of how they are progressing that I took this weekend.

Some plums too. There are actually about six in total on this one tree...
And this is an odd one. It's supposed to be a peach, according to the tag on it when we bought it. It does have peach type leaves, but the fruit (there are two more) are oddly shaped. I guess we'll see, fingers crossed, when it's ripe and ready.
And in veggie and herb news, here is the weekend harvest. A big basket full of herbs and two cucumbers. We're enjoying the cukes now as they come in slowly but we know in a few weeks it will be cuke-a-palooza. In the meantime, we're gonna make some pesto with the basil.

Looks more like a plum to me. Fresh veggie envy here from Maasachusetts where spring hasn't settled in yer.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I never thought about it being another plum. It does kind of look like that doesn't it? The leaves though are definitely peach like so I'm not sure. We'll find out soon hopefully
DeleteIf it is not a peach, I would say it is a nectarine. I cannot wait until you taste it and tell us. Don't miss the picking of them and let them fall on the ground. The basket of produce is beautiful.

DeleteOh your peaches look so lovely! I have exactly 2 growing on my tree. If I get anything out of it this year it will be a first. The first year my last tree began to produce we moved before they were ready! Everything is beautiful.

When peaches are crossed or self-pollinated, resulting seeds that carry the recessive allele for smooth skin will give rise to nectarines, while those that carry the dominant allele will be peaches. Nectarines may sometimes appear on peach trees as a result of the process of bud variation, or bud sporting, a vegetative deviation from the normal.
