Every Thursday we like to post a picture of something we've found online that inspires us to do something similar at the farm. Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and someday, hopefully anyway, recreate it...enjoy!

Hmm...we have the tub already...
This is a cute and, best of all, quick decorating idea for some flowers. Just a simple shepherd's hook in the ground, a galvanized tub (used is fine) some soil and flowers and voila, simple hanging flower filled focal point for the yard. Best of all, weed free, ha.

love things like this and what's cool about it, you just sit a potted plant inside (looks like it is what they done here) the tub and don't have to worry abut the dirt washing out when it rains.

Funny what you said about the old tub, a coworker was looking at the blog on her lunch break and said the same thing. If we bought a new one, abuse it before using it, ha.

DeleteWeeds will find their way inside! I would have to use something more rustic than the shiny black hook. Or, spray the hook with paint that make the hook more rustic. Today, I posted what the county agent said to do with fireants in raised beds or pots.

DeleteI do hang hummingbird feeders on shepherd hooks and always had trouble with ants crawling up the hook and into the feeders so one day I put Vaseline part way up the hook from the ground up which took care of the ants from crawling up and getting into the hummer's feeders.
ReplyDeleteVaseline is a great solution. I have heard about that for bird feeders and squirrels.
DeleteVaseline did not stop inch-long ants getting my hummingbird feeder hanging on a hook.
