Those of us a certain age will relate to this...
I was TOTALLY this kid. I remember wanting this pen in the worst way. And when I got it? OMG it was THE best thing ever. I think I was even, albeit briefly, the star of the school.
Sigh.
Kids today just don't understand what it was like when we were young.
Damn, now I sound like my Grandfather...
I love this! My DIL who is an in-home occupational therapist. Her work is right up her alley, but the paperwork is bothersome to her. One day she was complaining that she had a hard time keeping things straight for the 3 different forms she has to fill out for each patient because each form requires different information. I told her I had a very simple non- tech solution and bought her one of these. It has made all the difference in the world plus all of her clients (who are my age or much older) say something about those pens and remember them fondly.
ReplyDeleteYou know I didn't even know they still made these. Cool! What a great, as you said "non tech" solution. Nothing like going old school.
Delete'Damn, now I sound like my Grandfather...' I totally get it. LOL!
ReplyDeleteLOL. thanks!!!
Deletethose pens were so cool!
ReplyDeleteWeren't they though?
DeleteI always wanted one of those pens but my mom didn’t think it was a necessity so I never got one :( - so I am totally jealous of you having one and being The Cool Kid! :) It sure didn’t take much back then to make us happy! Yep, sounding like my grandparents, I know! :)
ReplyDeleteHa, I somehow convinced my parents it was a necessity, ha. Maybe it helped I was always drawing and they figured it was my "artistic side".
DeleteWhen I was nursing we used those pens for neurological recordings. I was fascinated that my grandmother carried one. My daughter has clocked up three degrees, 2 B.A.s and a Masters and she does not believe how long it took to research and write an assignment without a computer. Meanwhile, rightly or wrongly my 16 month old granddaughter has an iPad. Her father works in computers and was able to buy her an old one very cheaply. Meanwhile Granny uses her fountain pens with pride and longs for an iPad because great granny took hers.
ReplyDeleteNow that's a great story thanks for sharing. It is amazing how things have changed isn't it?
DeleteVery popular pen and you can still buy them. I get mine from Staples; 3 to a pack for around $6.00. I'm sure other places still sell them as well
ReplyDeleteI might have to get one for "old times sake", ha.
DeleteYes, Loved those pens!!!
ReplyDeleteGosh do kids today even know how to write? Ha.
DeleteI just saw a Great tutorial on peach tree trimming. The guy was from San Marcos, TX. It was on the Central Texas Gardener today (sat).
ReplyDeleteThank you for this I will look for that.
DeleteO.O
ReplyDeleteI fffffeel old!
Hey, we're all in this together. It's all good. And besides, you're only as old as you feel.
DeleteThey were the coolest pens ever!! Somehow I always broke mine before all my siblings - I have no idea why! HA!
ReplyDeleteToo funny. Maybe they were all stealing yours and using it and then put it back, so yours had more "miles" on it, ha.
