CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

Regular readers will know that we haven't really decorated much for Christmas for years.  We didn't even have a tree for a few years.  Then a couple of years back, found a tree that someone gave away.  Click HERE to read the backstory on all of this.

So this past weekend, we needed to bring some decorations back into town.  They are stored in the loft of the barn/workshop at the farm.  We have a bunch of great decorations but didn't want to bring everything back because we don't have the room for that.

We found the box with our stockings and tree skirt.  Under these stockings is one of our favorite things, a furry Santa Clause style tree skirt.  It's the red and white fuzzy kind just like Santa's outfit.  Hobart will be happy because that means he gets to keep his red blanket that we used as last years tree skirt, ha.

These are the kinds of ornaments we have, the glittery, sparkly kind.  We love them.  We would add to the collection every season.

Each of these are full of ornaments...

...two levels in each one.  We have some more in another box that I brought back.  Our tree should be very pretty this year.

Someday, we're going to have a Hallmark Christmas movie worthy farmhouse, ha.  Until then, we're slowly getting our Christmas spirit mojo back!

Christmas tree coming soon!

  1. I don't decorate as much as I used to since we downsized but I always have our tree up and lights around the living room window and our stockings hung.
Your decorations are so pretty!! Can't wait to see your tree.

    1. Downsizing always makes it tougher but yep, we just have to do it. Stay tuned, I'll get some stuff up soon.

  2. Your Christmas ornaments are absolutely beautiful! They are the kind that I also love. On a trip to the Czech Republic, we visited a place where they blow the glass for each one and decorate each by hand - it was magical. Of course I bought some to take home. They are a special treasure.
Looking forward to seeing your decorated tree this year.

    1. Oh wow you went to the "mother ship" for those ornaments, ha. They are special I bet. We love ours (not to mention a certain little "pig" we got a few years back. It will be on there this year. ;-)

    1. Oh I could go crazy if I had the space, ha. I have always wanted one of those spaces where the shelves are lined with boxes for every holiday, ha. I hope you'll share pictures of your ornaments when you go through them.

  4. I didn't do much decorating last year, and probably won't put up trees again this year. But then when I do get in the mood for trees I do two. I've already started planning my decorations though.

  5. I have been keeping my decorations very simple being it's just me and my old 'goat'; (hubby)
Love your ornaments. They are all so pretty, but oh so fragile. Something like that is what cats like to bat around with their paws; so do be careful so that Hobart doesn't end up breaking any. Don't want any tiny pieces of glass in them cute little paws of his.
Hobby Lobby has quite a variety of them kind of ornaments.
I do have some old, vintage ornaments that hubby's mother had.
Can't wait to see pictures of your decorations once you have your place all decorated.
Enjoy your evening and have a great rest of the week as well.
We're expecting rain this evening early

    1. Well, that was one thing we wanted to test out last year. We had the glass ball type ornaments on it and it was a test to see how he reacted to them. He wasn't the least bit interested, ha. We'll still keep them from being too low but I think he's past the age limit to care ha. I'll start working on decorations soon!

    2. Definitely not too soon. We brought ours back because 2nd Man was all "when are we going to put up the tree?". Growing up it seemed it was thanksgiving weekend but we'll start working on ours either this weekend or next.

    1. Thanks, we have always liked these. I would like to have multiple trees someday, but for now this one will be big and nice to cover in ornaments. 3 ft or 9 ft or wherever in between if it makes you smile that's all that matters.

    1. I wish we could say we bought them at a store but we got these for a crazy deal. A lady was moving and sold them to us for $10 each. They had to be $35 or $40 originally. I've seen ones like them at Hobby Lobby in years past and one year, Target had some. That's when we saw them and wanted them but just never got them. I sometimes put other things in there for other holidays. Hope to get more into that next year and make the whole sofa table they sit on be our "holiday focus".

  10. Good on you for getting your Xmas mojo back LOL. We have the same taste in Christmas decorations - we are also fans of the sparkly blown mercury glass ornaments. We have gone a little insane the past few years. Six trees last year. I think we're going to keep it down to five this year.
Check out some of our trees from a couple years ago - I think you'll recognize a few of the same ornaments that I see in your boxes! I look forward to seeing your tree and home all bedecked and festive!
