GOOD FOOD AND HOBART SUNDAY

As this posts, it's off to the farm (see yesterday's post for weather update).  Today is gorgeous and cool/cold.  Won't be much outdoor work (far too wet) but the plan is some inside cleaning.  But it's Sunday so it's time for some good food and Hobart!

Chef's Salad with blue cheese dressing

Once a week, we enjoy making a large salad for dinner.  This particular one was romaine lettuce hearts with tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles, bacon bits, ham, hard boiled eggs, croutons and some diced apple.
It was delicious!

Hobart and his water glass

As for Hobart, well here he is with a special thing we do for him.  He LOVES to drink water (good thing because it keeps him healthy) and so he has several bowls of water scattered around that we empty and fill several times a days.  But a special treat for him is when we fill up a glass with water and put it on the floor so he can sit there and drink it. #notspoiled

We think this look was "um, waiter, refill please!"

    1. Aren't big salads wonderful for a change in meal? And they feel so much less "heavy". Thanks, yep, your babies are not spoiled either, LOL! Hey people who love animals are the best people. ;-)

  2. We also enjoy a BIG salad at least once a week. It so much fun to change out the toppings depending on the season or the mood.
There is no such thing as a spoiled cat.

    1. Yes! A week or so ago we used pear, roast beef, cucumbers, carrots and pecans. It's fun to just throw some things in and enjoy. And yep the best cats are the spoiled ones, ha.

  3. salads; I'll stick to my small ramekin bowls.
Cats as well as dogs prefer drinking and eating their food out of cat / dog containers that are more to their height / level then having to bend way down to drink and eat and that is why Hobart likes drinking out of glass much better because it doesn't have to lower his head down as far.
Experience that we had with our 2 cats that we recently lost since Sept. They both preferred eating & drinking out of food and water bowls that where more to their height.
Enjoy your evening and have yourselves a great week.

    1. LOL I take it not a big salad fan, ha! We put so much other stuff in there it's a whole meal, ha. Yes, we've heard that about dogs and cats. Hobart's bowl is elevate on a little platform (that my dad built) and his water bowls are ceramic bowls that sit up higher. Not glass height but the water is higher up. He seems to like it. Brisbane and Sydney had the same stands. Maybe the glass height is the best height and that's why he thinks it's such a special treat, ha. Thanks, hope you have a great last week before Christmas!!

    2. Oh, I do enjoy a good salad, but in proportions; making room for the main course. There are other times when I will have a dinner plate salad; ( pasta or green) and that will be my meal for the day.

  4. Oh, I love your "Hobart Sundays"! I also love all of your great recipes and your salad looks sooo good...I actually happen to have all those ingredients in my frig so I see a "Monday night" salad dinner coming for me! Merry Christmas to you both and a "special Merry Christmas petting to Hobart".

    1. Aww, thanks. So many people loved when we posted pictures of our cats over the years and since Hobart is our last, it makes me happy to "share" him with the world, ha. That salad was one of our best, ha. We tend to throw whatever we have together but always try to have a meat, some crunch veg like cukes or carrots, something sweet like an apple or a pear or dried cranberries, sometimes we had croutons, bacon bits, nuts (pecans and sunflower seeds are our most used ones), things like that. Enjoy!!! And thank you so much the same back to you.

  5. I love making a big salad for a meal also. Now that the weather has cooled off and my lettuce is growing well, it’s even better. Y’all made a beautiful one!
Beautiful Hobart and his order of a tall glass of water! Of course such a sweet boy deserves the very best!

    1. If you make a big one and you have leftovers they are great as a side the next night with something else. I forget that this is salad growing season (in our parts of the world, ha). Thank you as always, big hugs!

  6. Your salad looks fabulous! I love a good "big salad" for dinner.

My favorite salad consists of Romaine, argula, pear (or apple), gorgonzola, chicken, dried cranberries, sliced celery, & walnuts; all topped off with Brianna's Blush Wine Vinaigrette. TRY IT!

Although they are closely related, I find I prefer gorgonzola over bleu cheese. It's not quite as assertive.
