Most every Sunday, we try to post an image of old posters that we find during online surfing. We enjoy the ones that reflect farming, gardening and/or food preservation and rationing. We enjoy them because we often wonder if anyone today would heed the kind of advice they gave back then...enjoy!

In honor or Arbor Day (2 days ago) I found this great poster image. This one dates from the late 30's and just after the "Great Dust Bowl". There was a concerted effort to get people in the Plains to plant more trees. The tag line on the poster "Trees Prevent Wind Erosion, Save Moisture...protect crops" was of course the direct response to preventing future Dust Bowl and drought type events. What we also find fascinating is the additional line about trees "Contribute to Human Comfort and Happiness". When was the last time the remember the Government saying something like this about the environment?
Save the trees is always a good thing in any time period. We try to plant trees as often ass we can, fruit trees, decorative trees, nut trees, whatever, trees are always welcome.
Off to mow (what I can anyway) today. There is a chance of rain again but so far the radar is mostly clear, at least toward the farm.
