Regular readers know how much we enjoy this. Alas, we missed it! Well not all of it, we had a few shows set to record and caught them. I had grand plans for this year and our must see TV, Shark Week 2024 on Discovery.
Normally, I post "farmshark" sightings but didn't get any pics done this year either. It seems Hurricane Beryl had other plans for us.
This was the schedule (click to enlarge).
On Monday July 8th, Houston was hit by the hurricane. Sigh. While we didn't lose power for long, the internet and cable TV were longer to come back fully. Things we had set to record didn't and half the time the guide didn't work so we couldn't set new ones to record each night. Oh well. They'll be repeated so we can just keep this listing for future reruns.
I got gifts for us! The plan was to give them in the middle of the week. Again, grand plans, ha. Ocean color gift bags and red tissue paper. Seemed "sharky" to me.
Found a couple of fun gifts for us. These are "Bento boxes" that I was going to head to the store and fill with some candies, his favorites and mine. I wanted gummy fish and gummy sharks and even saw some dark chocolate sharks. But alas, no going to the store to get them on my lunch break. Well, we can use them later for something fun. And then what are the other things? They are shark socks! They go up your ankle, mouth up, so it looks like a shark is attacking. No, we won't wear them out in public, ha, but when it's cold this Winter, we'll be able to remember the warm days of Summer (and the hurricane?!? ha).
And we didn't forget about Hobart!
Look at these:
Little shark cat toys!!! I mean, how perfect is that? Hobart was thrilled. Notice one is missing? Pictures of him "attacking the shark" coming soon!
I was a little bummed about missing it, but 2nd Man reminded me of something: next year, shark week will be on our new big TV in our NEW HOUSE!
SHARK WEEK AT THE FARM?
LET'S DO IT!
cute shark items. Them shark boxes can be used for just about anything; nuts, bolts, screws, & washers. Speaking of nuts, can add mixed variety of snacking nuts, party mixes, fresh fruit, cheese & crackers, etc.
ReplyDeleteThem socks are darn right adorable.
No shark attacks here but them mosquitoes are something else but I do spray myself down really well with Repel. In some counties / towns around here have gotten the West Nile Virus, so do be careful when going out to the farm. Make sure you have a good insect repellant.
Take care, stay safe and keep cool.
Enjoy your day and have a wonderful upcoming weekend.
Yep, it was a silly purchase but I figured we could have fun with them later on for something. ugh mosquitoes are horrible at the farm. Last weekend I had myself sprayed down (didn't help with the wasps, HA!) but I bet they are worse now.
DeleteSharks are incredible creature, I don't have a problem with them
ReplyDeleteWhile I wouldn't want to be in the water with them, you are right, they are fascinating and amazing creatures. That's why we enjoy Shark Week, so much new knowledge still being learned by researchers.
DeleteI love the catnip sharks for Hobart!
ReplyDeleteNext summer the sharks 🦈🦈 will look bigger and better on your big screen TV while you snack on goodies in your bento boxes!
Right? Yep, 2nd Man is already looking at bigger TVs (ours is big now but it's like 6 years old so it's "smart" but not "as smart" as the new ones, LOL! Plus now we'll have a big wall and can go bigger. So if we need a new one just to make sure it's the latest smart thing for streaming, we might as well get bigger too, ha.
DeleteThose bento boxes are so cool! And yes, celebrating next year in your new home is going to be so wonderful! Can't wait to see how Hobart liked the shark toy!
ReplyDeleteThey are cute and probably made for kids but hey, grown ups can have fun too, right? HA!!! Pics coming soon of Hobart with his shark, ha.
DeleteThose are all cute shark items. You are set for next year.
ReplyDeleteI love Shark Week, too! You got some great sharky items for the annual event!
ReplyDeleteI missed most of Shark Week also. No electricity for days. And when the power was restored, I was usually so exhausted from cleaning up all the downed tree branches that I fell asleep watching it.
Just a blurb re TVs ... we've had Samsung which started burning up by the smell, and put itself out of business... and then LG which we went big ( 65") smart and oled .. it lasted just a few months till pixels started going crazy ... then it just would turn itself off when it was turned on. So we got Sony ... so far very happy, smarter than others were (and cost half .... all bought @ Costco ... Sony has best guarantee) and we got med-low price sound bar with base box across the room .. so far all good .. If you buy at Costco you can get extra insurance ... but Sony is our current fave ... just sayin .,.. those sharks will come right out and bight your toes!!
