LASAGNA IN FOUR PICTURES

So several of you asked about the birthday lasagna.  It's one of my most favorite things.  I love lasagna of any type and 2nd Man makes an awesome one.

Lasagna ingredients
It takes a whole counter full of ingredients...

Le Creuset lasagna pan
And a big lasagna pan...

Filled to the brim with layers of meat and pasta and various cheeses...

Homemade lasagna
The end result is just deliciousness on a plate!

It's pretty labor intensive (as lasagna can often be) so we usually save it for special occasions.

I tried to get him to share his recipe but even I don't know it!  He just buys the ingredients and it magically appears when I get home.

And a little magic is always a good thing.

  1. 2nd man needs to start making YouTube videos of his cooking, and no he doesn't have to show his face! You could call him "The Headless Chef Farm Cooking Show" ha

    1. The headless chef I love that! It would be a catch, ha. Thanks for the kind words as always. We'll see what we can do about that.

  2. The counter full of ingredients gave me my first clue as to why I never make lasagna. That looks delicious. Ship me a pan of that on my birthday. No, I am not kidding.

    1. LOL I hear ya. It's a lot of ingredients but he swears it's not that hard. When is your birthday by the way? I might not be able to ship lasagna but we'll send a card. :-)

  3. Lasagne is good. And is labour intensive. A true gesture of love.

  4. Looks delicious! I love real lasagna. I am guilty of making a lazy version!

I would love to add that pan to my Le Creuset collection! Flame is my color and I have way too much of it already!

    1. Lazy version is ALWAYS good. No problem there. We collect all colors, always try to get different and interesting pieces. We are lucky to have an outlet store here in town, and of course find great online deals too.

  11. Labor of Love 4 sure. Nothing better than coming home to something homemade. Really looks delicious and has lots of cheese, meats and all that other good stuff...... YES! Makes for a nice meal all it's own; well, maybe some homemade bread sticks to go with.
Lasagna is time consuming to make but Oh, so well worth it. You out done yourself 2nd Man. Great job.
When I make it here, I will make 2 right away. That way I have one to put in freezer for another time. I put no cottage cheese in mine but I do use Johnsonville Italian sausage along with my ground hamburger.
By the way; I like your round cutting board
    Have a wonderful weekend.
    Temperature early this morning - in the 30's; actually 39 deg. and very, very windy :{

    1. We cheated and used that frozen NY Style garlic toast (can't remember the name), it was good. We'd do two also but have such a small freezer in the apartment. Hmm, could put one at the farm as "backup". My mom used cottage cheese (and I loved it) but yeah, 2nd Man doesn't either.

Yep, it got cold here, wow!

  13. Lasagna is a labor of love. I make mine with our pasture raised pork sausage and one cheese which I now believe is quite dull. Tell second man I am going to branch out to more than Mozzarella because of him.

    1. LOL, thank you for that, I will let him know. There are 4 different cheeses. Oh I can't imagine how good that pastured pork sausage is. Wow. Thanks!!!
