GOOD FOOD AND HOBART SUNDAY

It's Sunday.  A nice relaxing day.  Yesterday was good, update tomorrow.  Today I awoke to smell of bacon cooking and then this...

Pancakes and bacon

...fresh pancakes with maple syrup and some wonderful applewood smoked bacon.  The breakfast, or in this case today, brunch, of champions!  So good.

Hobart sleeping in the sunshine

And for all you kitty lovers, here is a picture of Hobart doing his thing...which is sleeping...

In the sunshine...

On his afghan...

He'll be 16 in a couple of months so sleeping is pretty much a priority for him.  We can't blame him it's nice.

Hope you all had a good weekend.  It was cooler here but the heat is coming back, closing in on 90's.

  1. Oh, I love Hobart! Going to be 16...wow....but really that's only 7 of his great "nine" lives *heart emote I spent my Sunday watching the Ryder Cup...what fun! *USA ! Now I'm following your lead and making pancakes with bacon and adding some creamy grits on the side for Sunday supper. Wishing you a great autumn week!

    1. Thanks! We often forget he's almost 16. He still acts (when he's awake, ha) like a young cat. He moves a bit stiffer but he's otherwise not showing his age. We often eat "breakfast for dinner", love it. Hope you had a nice one. Happy Autumn week to you too!!!

  2. That is good looking bacon, all crispy and not limp and fatty looking. YUM!

    1. That's the HEB (grocery store) brand thick sliced. 2nd Man cooks it on a rack on a sheet pan in the oven. Less mess and makes a nice perfect piece of bacon. And bacon is a perfect food, ha.

  3. I buy about 5 pounds of bacon then have a bacon baking morning. Baking sheet bacon rules! It goes in the freezer in packages for us to grab a slice of two as needed. A quick zap and we are ready for BLT or breakfast at the drop of the hat.

    1. Wow, never thought about freezing it. Hmm...so it reheats nicely in the microwave? That's great news. We usually cook a pound and then put what we don't use in the fridge and use over the next few days. But I like the idea of 5 lbs and keeping a bunch in the freezer. And yes, baking sheet is the ONLY way to go.

    1. Thanks, it's always so good. We don't have it often so when we do, it's always good. 2nd Man makes a nice thick and fluffy pancake so two each is enough, ha. Don't cats always do thing the best? Ha!
