I stumbled across this at the grocery store yesterday and just couldn't resist. It's a commemorative tin that celebrates the 75th Anniversary of Nestle Toll House chocolate chips. We needed some chocolate chips for cookies anyway.

I figured it would have one bag in it, but when we opened it, it has a regular sized 12 oz bag and then, bonus, another half size bag. If that weren't good enough, there's a coupon for $1.50 off of any future Toll House purchase!
The tin, at our local HEB grocery store, was just about $4.00 Not bad for all you get and when you take the packages out, you get a really cool metal container. The tin has a vintage look that will look really nice on one of the kitchen shelves at the farm. We can even keep a few bags of chocolate chips in it!

So if you need chocolate chips this season (and really, who doesn't when cookie baking time comes) and you want a pretty good deal, you might check this out.
I love that vintage look! It will look great at your Farmhouse. (And it’s metal in case any unwanted critters visit :o !) I’m going to look for this at the grocery store today.
ReplyDeleteYour cookies look scrumptious!
That's what we were thinking too, keeps things safe! I updated the post with our cookie post recipe.
DeleteI love these "old" tins & have a few.
ReplyDeleteAs Texas Rose says it will look good at the farmhouse.
Aren't they fun? They look great and do a good job of holding all sorts of fun things.
DeleteI love the tin. I had forgotten about it until now, but many years ago Nestle issued a different tin. It was round and dark brown, if memory serves me right, but quite a bit smaller than yours. Maybe it was for their 50th anniversary. This one should do a good job of protecting whatever you might eventually store in it. Hopefully you won't have many critters get in over the years, but you never know. I wish HEB would expand northward to me. There's just not another grocery chain like it. I really, really miss it. They have such variety of their own products as well as national brands. And their fresh in-store made tortillas! Yum. We used to give their San Antonio blend of coffee to friends and family for Christmas. One couple got on the phone and ordered beans from them 10 lb. at a time to freeze. Your cookies make me want to bake some. But without children around to help eat them, that's a lot of guilt for us old folks. Maybe I can make a half batch.
ReplyDeleteYou are probably right, they might have done one for 50th anniversary (or 60th). I hope for no critters but we realize it is an old house, with openings we'll never get to, ha.
DeleteIsn't HEB wonderful? Their market stores are awesome. Haven't tried the coffee but might have to do that.
And hey, we have no kids around but we make cookies on occasion. I find that if we make them and divide them up and take some to work/friends, it reduces the guilt, HA!
I can pretty much pass on just regular chocolate - but I love toll house cookies! That tin is really cute and would look good in the Range kitchen.
ReplyDeleteThere is something about toll house chocolate chip cookies bring out the kids in is don't they? Thanks!!!
DeleteI haven't seen any of those around my area and probably won't. I like old vintage tins too. But, Did. you. have. to. post. a. picture. of. those. cookies??!! I will not be at peace until I have a Toll House chocolate chip cookie!!
ReplyDeleteHaha, Galestorm. I know--such torment!
DeleteI updated the post with our cookie recipe, it's not toll house but it's good. :-) Besides, it's Thanksgiving...that means it's ok to make and eat cookies.
DeleteAnd the colors are PERFECT for your kitchen!
ReplyDeleteI know, they are huh? Actually it would look pretty good in your new kitchen too.
DeleteOooh, I will keep a lookout for that. I love tins. I no longer have any out to see, I just keep things in them--buttons, coupons, hidden stash of chocolate. Hey, you gotta keep people away from chocolate and save it all for me.
ReplyDeleteGood idea for the coupons and buttons. I have some buttons in a mason jar because they look pretty, ha. And hidden chocolate? Um yeah!!!
DeleteI wonder if they'll have it on our shelves....I'll have to take a look.
ReplyDeleteI saw them at a Kroger store yesterday. Good luck!!
