It's time for the "Friday Food Debate" where we tackle some of the burning questions of the culinary world...LOL!
This week, the burning question is:
When you dive into a big bowl of chicken wings, whether they be be buffalo, BBQ, smoked, fried or glazed, do you have a favorite you reach for first? The little mini "chicken leg" looking piece called the drumette or do you reach for the flat wingette piece?
We're divided again here, well, divided in the sense that 2nd Man doesn't really have a favorite but I do. I love the drumette. Apparently some informal polling at various places puts the drumette in the lead but the flat piece is not far behind...
Meanwhile, God these look so good, I would eat them all no matter which piece it is, ha.
So...which one are you?
Drumette or wingette?

Both. Makes no difference to me But leave off the hot sauce. Hubby doesn't eat wings so it's up to me to eat the chicken pieces that he doesn't eat; saving the bones to make chicken stock with
ReplyDeleteI don't like TOO hot but a little is ok. He won't eat wings when done like this? Just a big bowl of these two pieces? Sacrilege! ha.
DeleteNeither. I'm a boneless skinless breast person. More meat to eat with red hot salsa BBQ sauce of coarse, a side of potato salad and home made beans. Yasssssss.
ReplyDeleteWell now you DO have a point there, ha!! Oh how I love potato salad and homemade beans. Yum!!! Now I'm hungry.
Deletealways the flats. i order flats only when we eat them out. every chef i know only eats the flats.
ReplyDeleteInteresting!!! A vote for flats
DeleteWingette all the way. The drumette is always hard and dry. I like mine meaty
ReplyDeleteAnother vote for flats (wingettes)
DeleteHate wings. Boneless breast meat for me, too.
ReplyDeleteNow of course my favorite piece of all is the thigh, and I do love the breast meat too but I'll eat these in a big bowl of wings like this. Lemon pepper, bbq, love them all.
DeleteI'm with you - the drumette. It has more meat on it than the flat.
ReplyDeleteA woman after my own heart, ha.
DeleteI love both and try for a good combo of both!
ReplyDeleteWill in full disclosure I will eat both regardless, ha.
DeleteWingette!
ReplyDeleteAnother wingette vote!!
Deletedrumette! bbq sauce or sweet thai chili sauce for me please!
ReplyDeleteYes!!
DeleteDrumette. More meat. Easier to get at.
ReplyDeleteLike little legs!!
DeleteWingette!
ReplyDeleteBack to the wingette flat piece!
DeleteDrumette.
ReplyDeleteAnd back to drumettes ha!
DeleteI hate wings! Chicken breasts are my choice.
ReplyDeleteEven a big bowl of yummy wings like this? I don't like wings when they are just wings, thighs and breasts are my faves...but give me a bowl like this and I'll tear it up, ha.
DeleteOh no! My first partially written response just disappeared. I'll try again:
DeleteEwwww! Neither for me. My "Shelley's Rules of Meat" says no bones, no skin. But given the chance, my hubby would eat both his portion of both types of wings and mine!
I've been on a thin-sliced chicken cutlet kick recently. Frequently the ones we buy (usually Costco or Aldi's, organic ONLY) have apparently been from frankenchicken stock, because the are HUGE. So I either cut them in two and we split one, or cut the pointy ends off and throw the ends in a bag I keep in the freezer. When it gets full enough we pull those out and make boneless wings. I prefer a General Tsao's type sauce or Orange chicken for a milder heat and some sweetness. But most commonly we throw them in some pickle juice to marinade then make copycat Chik-Fil-A "nuggets" MMMMMM
Right! NO WINGS. I don't mind bones or skin on the breast.
DeleteDrumette followed by a flat. I have to eat them in order so I have each every other wing. But I do have to have hot sauce. None of the sweet sauces for me.
ReplyDeleteBrunette first. But since wings are more expensive than steak here, I do the wing thing using legs, which are usually .99'
ReplyDeleteFLATS all the way!!!!!
