The day we closed on the house, we stopped by afterward with our keys to lock it all up.
We looked out the dining room window and this cardinal was sitting there looking into the house.
The day we moved in, we looked out the kitchen window and this cardinal was on the front porch railing.
In the days since we've moved in, we have several cardinals all hanging around the house all the time. We remember a story about cardinals coming to visit are loved ones who have passed coming by to say hello. We'd like to believe our parents or maybe even Ma who owned this place before us, are coming to visit us and wish us well in our new adventure.
We are LOVING life here. I'll write more of an update Tuesday, but for now, just know that we are in our element and life is good!
As a bonus, here is some good food:

How wonderful to have cardinals visiting ... such a colorful greeting!
ReplyDeleteGee ... I think I'll have scrambled eggs for my breakfast!
They are so pretty. Like little ornaments in the tree, ha. Hope you got your eggs.
DeleteI ended up frying a couple 🥚🥚 ... over easy!
DeletePerhaps even sweet Hobart who would have enjoyed seeing a cardinal flutter past a window.
ReplyDeleteOh he would have loved it here. The screened in porch would have been his spot. But he's here, with his brothers, enjoying it with us. :-)
DeleteHopefully you have a bird feeder out so that they keep coming back. They love sunflower seeds.
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks for this, I didn't know what they liked, I had been meaning to check on that. I will add a bird feeder and some sunflower seeds for birds to the shopping list!
DeleteI am so thrilled for you both! Your new home is so lovely and "so livable"! Happy times ahead. Bless you both!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for the kind words. Definitely happy times ahead!
DeleteCardinals and other birds like suet the with fruit and nuts. They need that fat content when the colder temperatures come around. Also; cut some oranges in half and put in platform feeder or stick on a nail. They also like grapes, raisins, etc. Cardinals will eat regular bird seed but cracked corn, Black Oil Sunflower and safflower seed. Once the birds get used to feeders being up they will constantly be coming around for our entertainment. Don't forget to put out some bird waters as well.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week and blessing to you both.
Just 1 more thing; Don't put a bird feeder up in a flower bed. We do buy all our birdseed at (TSC)Tractor Supply
What a beautiful welcome to your new home. I’m sure all of your dear loved ones are stopping by to congratulate you on your new home along with their love and best wishes for much happiness.
ReplyDeleteI feed my backyard birds a Songbird Mix with sunflower seeds, peanuts, safflower seeds, dried raisins, and dried cherries. It feeds Cardinals, Blue Jays, White-wing doves, woodpeckers, house wrens, and other birds. I also put peanuts in the shell for the Blue Jays.
