PORCH CABINET, INSPIRATION THURSDAY

Every Thursday, we like to post a picture of something we've found online that inspires us to do something similar at the farm.
Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and hopefully recreate it...enjoy!

Potting Bench Cabinet repurposed, image from BHG.com
Love this idea, perhaps though, not the color but we can look past that, LOL.  We have a fairly deep and long porch at the farm.  We've been thinking of what to put on the porch and we immediately thought of re-purposing some sort of furniture.  That's when we found this picture.  Something like this would come in handy, not necessarily as a potting bench type set up, but storage for gloves or small tools, or outdoor candles, glasses, vases, etc.

Against the back wall of the porch, it's sheltered from rain.  Of course it's still outside in humidity and cold, so a good quality exterior sealing type paint (like we used for the beehives) would work well.  We need some outside storage that's not as far from the house as the barn and/or shed are.  We're getting ideas so that when we have the exterior redone, and the porch is part of that, we have ideas ready to go.  Of course, we could do this before then too if we were so inclined.  But not this color.  :-)

Be inspired!

  2. Great idea! If the color were toned down just a bit I would even love it.

  4. You could see that color in the dark, and that would be an advantage :-) We have a big screened porch on the back of the house, and we put an old bedroom armoire out there. The armoire was never intended to be outside, but so far it has worked fine. It is used constantly, and every square inch is packed.

    1. That's it, it's like 'glow stick green', ha. That's a great idea, I'm going to keep my eyes open for sure. (and this color would defiantly keep your eyes open, LOL!)

  5. This is a good idea. You'll have to keep your famous Bargain Hunting Eye on the look-out for another of your great finds.

  6. Love the cabinet and the idea! I even like the color! ha! The color is so Spring Green! I love the distressed look so if I had one of these I would most likely do that. I also love it when chicken wire is used in placed of glass or wood on the doors. Happy TGIF! Rose

    1. Hi Rose! yes, love chicken wire (though outside it might let critters in, ha) but it does look so cool. So you like the green? Hmm, I'm still not sure, but that's ok. It certainly is cheerful!

  7. What's wrong with color? It's a POP color. It's the pink part I'm not partial to; I'd paint the inside the same color as the house.

    1. Well if it was supposed to pop it most certainly does, ha. I'd love a bright yellow for sure. I didnt think about it, maybe the pink is making the other color look 'off'.
