Was at a grocery store the other day (of all places!) and they had these outside the entrance. I was hooked immediately. They are glazed and painted terra-cotta. I took pictures of them and brought them home to decide. We decided that any one of them would be fine. Bright colors and best of all? These were only $25 EACH!!!
I liked this one the best...but they only had one. Of course when I went back, it was gone.
This was second choice...
This was third but really, any one of them would be perfect.
Ceramic glazed terra-cotta birdbath |
This is the one we ended up with and here it is in its new home at the farm. We put it in the corner flowerbed by the porch stairs, replacing the concrete one. What will we do with the concrete one? Oh, we definitely have plans for that one.
Hint: Future bees will love it.
We love that it adds color and interest that will be there year round. Heck at this price, if the red one reappears, perhaps I'll pick it up too.
Can you have too many birdbaths?
You have the best luck when it comes to finding such cool looking items. Me; not so lucky.
ReplyDeleteThose are gorgeous. Any one or 2 or even 3 would bring beauty to one's garden / yard / flower beds.
I have learned the hard way; If I see something that I like, I pick it up right away and put in cart; figuring I can always change my mind later, but in meantime it's in in my cart up to check out time.
It is luck I guess. I just stumbled across those at a grocery store (HEB) I go to at lunch.
DeleteGreat point about picking up when you see it. Yep, if these come back, I'll get more. Like you said, they are pretty regardless.
These are fabulous! And yes, #1 would have been my first choice too. But they're all beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHi there!!! Yep, looking back at the pics, they are all pretty in their own way. I've got my eyes open for a second round! :-)
DeleteCome back soon!!
so pretty. the birds will be happy!
ReplyDeleteHope so and if they aren't, then we are, ha.
DeleteLove those bird baths! And only $25, wow.
ReplyDeleteYep, great deal, HEB grocery store. It was a sale, regular price was $40 something. Eyes out for more.
DeleteOh what fun. And I am very, very glad to hear that you are thinking of bees again.
ReplyDeleteYES!! I forgot about that, yep, definitely going to try again. Working on plans now, changing the area where they are, moving the hives, getting some new ones, etc. Can't start that in this unbearable heat and humidity but this fall that's top of the list (to prep for next Spring).
DeleteThose are the coolest bird baths I've ever seen. You can't possibly have too many bird baths when they look like that.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Thanks!! And yep, we can't have too many, I have decided that too, ha. 2nd Man might roll his yes but oh well. ;-)
DeleteYou could have the manager to find out if they have the one you want at another of their stores. If it is not over an hour away, I would go get it! I like the first one best.
ReplyDeleteI only have one bird bath, but I have a large (huge) bowl where I kept water in the yard for my hens. I often caught them drinking from the birdbath, too. Plus, wild birds bathed in the water bowl for the hens. My hens never caught a disease from wild birds.
I did and I even drove to three others and they didn't have them. Each store gets it's own random shipment of 'outside' stuff. But we're still checking.
DeleteThat's cool about the hens drinking out of it.
Wow, those are all beautiful. I can't believe they were only $25! I have paid way more than that, they can be expensive. I am still getting caught up with blogs since being back, I have missed a lot here.
ReplyDeleteHey there! They were a great deal for sure, not quite as heavy duty as a big concrete one but definitely pretty. Welcome back and I've been looking at your beautiful pictures of an amazing trip.
DeleteThat is a beautiful bird bath! And you put it in the perfect place by your front porch, where you can really enjoy it. It adds a lot of color and interest. That was a great price, too.
ReplyDeleteAnother deal, ha. Though free would have been REALLY nice. I like that it's as much for us as the birds.
DeleteBe sure to put something in the water for any swimming bees (or other insect) to crawl up on,dry out and fly away
ReplyDeleteYep, put a couple of our stones we brought from in town in there and the water goes around them give them place to dry off. I'm so glad we heard of that, I'll admit to having birdbaths in years past and not knowing about that.
DeleteHi 1st Man :) I think those birdbaths are lovely. And no, I don't think you can have too many! I hope they restock your favourite one. Sometimes the grocery stores surprise me with the stock they choose!
ReplyDeleteKeep watching for it. And yep, this store is a great store and just outside the entrance they have herbs and yard decor and all sorts of cool things. It's a pleasant surprise!
Delete1st Man,
ReplyDeleteI say more than one bird bath is a good idea. Birds just love water, and if you can get the water to move they love it even more. You can pickup a device called a water wiggler (price varies from store to store). The wiggler comes in battery or electric form, and it's placed in the bird bath. The wiggler just moves (aerates) the water.
