It has rained all night and all day.
We're on the Nextdoor group for the area around the farm and people are reporting their rainfall totals and it's anywhere from 4" to 6". It's supposed to end this evening and then turn cold.
We don't go out for New Year's Eve in a good year. Just seems nothing good ever happens on the road after midnight. Plus the older we get the less we like crowds.
Then yesterday afternoon, everyone in Houston got this push alert on their cell phones. In our office all our phones went off at once (kind of freaky). So things are getting worse here as we start 2021.
We have some homemade pizza dough on a slow rise in the fridge for the last couple of days so 2nd Man can try out his new cast iron Lodge pizza pan...
happy new years and stay safe!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much you too!
Deletethat is exactly what we are doing also. plenty of food and drink in house. it's raining up here too. and who wants a case of COVID for 2021? NOT US!
ReplyDeleteI made hot crab & bacon dip for the first time today - YUM!
Hope y'all had a nice quiet day and evening. Hot crab and bacon dip? OMG that sounds wonderful. Let us know how it came out I might have to find a recipe for that. Yum.
DeleteI just looked at the Covid numbers for Texas. Very alarming. You are doing the smart thing. Enjoy your meal and continue the self nurturing into 2021.
ReplyDeleteTexas is doing very badly. Houston is alarming but we're still better off than West Texas so bad there. A friend of mind from work has lost 4 extended family members this last month. They don't believe in masks and had big Thanksgiving get togethers. Sigh. You stay safe too!!
DeleteWishing y’all a very happy, healthy, and successful New Year! I will be happy to see 2020 in my rear view mirror!! Looking forward to better things in 2021.
ReplyDeleteWe got a lot of rain here. My 6 inch rain gauge was overflowing early this morning but it was pouring rain so I didn’t go out to empty it. It continued to rain all morning and into the afternoon - so I probably got another couple of inches from that.
Thank you so much! I think the rain was pretty good everywhere in this part of Texas. That's nice, we did need it. And we didn't have flooding problems so that's ok. Here's to a much better 2021!
DeleteHappy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHubby was scheduled to work today but stores closed at 6 so was able to come home earlier than usual. Nothing really special here at this household.
Was Cold and rainy All day
We are cold today though probably not as cold as you further up North in Texas, but yeah it was cold and rainy yesterday and just cold today. Stay warm and dry!
DeleteThe rain pushed north and we've starting the day with freezing rain that's supposed to turn to snow. Hopefully it means "in like a lion, out like a lamb"! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteIf this rain turned to snow we'd have a blizzard, ha. I hope you guys stay safe and warm!!! Happy New Year!
DeleteHappy New Year! We must have the same rain gauge as Texas Rose as ours overflowed at 6” too. Nice to fill up the pond. We got our first vaccine dose Tuesday so starting off 2021 on the right path! Hope you take a pic of the pizza.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yep, I asked 2nd Family and they said their rain gauge was overflowing at 6" so I guess that's it. Yay for you and the vaccine. Definitely will have pizza pics.
DeleteHave to laugh at your first picture ... that actually shows: Texass ... OMG Snort ... laugh!!
ReplyDeleteOK ... have so enjoyed your blog this past year and looking forward to so much more from you in this New Year! Happy New Year to both of you!!!
I didn't even notice that!!! OMG that's too funny. It's the weatherbug app I will have to see if it shows that way all over. Ha! Thanks for the comments!!!
DeleteHappy New Year!!! Oh pizza and bubbly at home sounds divine! The older I get the less tolerant I am of crowds...and people in general I admit! :)
ReplyDeletepeople in general, yeah we can understand that too. We area very happy just being along and quiet and doing out own thing. Happy New Year!
DeleteOk, I cotta know; how was your pizza. I know it must had been good but how was it prepared on the cast iron pizza pan.
ReplyDeleteMe, I prefer preparing pizza in my cast iron skillets or on my pizza stones.
Seems like pizza taste much better than baking in / on a baking sheet
Neighbors around still shooting off fireworks here last night and into the early morning hours. Allowed to shoot fireworks off in Johnson County
Have yourselves a wonderful weekend and stay warm and stay safe.
It was really good. I will have a post coming up about it. We had been using a baking sheet and the difference was night and day. Baking sheet was good but the cast iron just gave it a crust that was as close to wood oven fired pizza like at a pizza place. It was smart of Lodge to come up with a pizza pan. Thanks, hope you are guys are warm and safe too!
DeleteI haven't used a baking sheet since I started using my cast iron skillets or my pizza stones a few years ago. Pizza around here is normally a weekend thing.
ReplyDeleteI made a very simple BLT pizza just the other night. (by simple, I mean taking a lot of short cuts :} )
