Well, last week we posted about the master bathroom. We'll have two baths in the house and this is the second one. The house is split so that the master bedroom and master bath are on one side and the guest rooms and bath are on the other side of the house.
This is the bathroom that will have our only bathtub. It is a bathtub shower combo of course, with a single sink vanity and elongated toilet.
This is a photo of our floor plan's actual guest bathroom. We'll have different colors but this is what the layout will look like. Our mirror will be framed (like the master bathroom) in the same color as the cabinetry and we'll have a different light fixture. Also, our tile in the tub/shower will go all the way to the ceiling (again, to reflect the master bath).
We're going to have our shower rod mounted high so that we can have long shower curtains like this.
Speaking of decorating and choices, these are the colors we chose for this bathroom.
Now the cabinetry won't have the grooves like in that picture, but they will be this gray color, just like the cabinets throughout the house. We'll have the same soapstone black countertop as the master bath, but we decided to make the floor a bit different by having this black and white design tile. We thought it would be nice (being the guest bath) to have something with some impact and style for guests. The tub/shower tile surround will be the gray one on the left side of this picture (and remember, will go all the way to the ceiling). A little extra price for maximum impact. Same fixtures as the master bath and same knobs and cabinet pulls as well.
Now there is a cool built-in cabinet at the other end of the bathroom but...
...that bottom section is a hamper/laundry compartment. Sure, if we had kids and a family, it might be good to say "hey, put your dirty laundry here". But for us, storage is much more important, so we are changing this to just more cabinets with shelves, all the way down. Storage, storage, storage!
We need to stock up on those pandemic supplies of toilet paper, just in case, LOL! But seriously, we do have a lot of quilts and blankets that will need to be stored and the more space the better!
Nice looking guest bath. Great design / layout.
ReplyDeleteA bath like that you can always add a little splash of color in using a beautiful shower curtain, towels, rug, etc.
Exactly, we have lots of artsy items we can hang on the wall or knickknacks on the counters or rugs on the floor. And yep, a colorful shower curtain will be on the list.
DeleteI admire your careful planning. Love the floor. I would enjoy using your guest bathroom-hint hint lol.
ReplyDeleteI have really liked all of your design choices. I can't wait to see the progression once you break ground.
ReplyDeletethank you! Hoping that comes in the next month or so.
DeleteNice choices all. I wonder if we should start stocking up on tp again with the dock strike. Towels can furnish color, along with items for wall and counters.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, towels too, forgot about those. We'll probably wait till we get in and live in the space.
DeleteWhy are you storing quilts and blankets in a bathroom with its constant humidity and risk of water damage? Surely keep those elsewhere. Roderick
ReplyDeleteWell, that's a good point. Of course, in our house, the guest bath will rarely even be used. The cabinet is made to store lines (sheets and stuff) so we'll probably be ok, but the vast majority will be in closets in the guest room or the master bedroom closet. We do have a glass front cabinet that might be awesome to store those in. :-)
DeleteYour new house is going to be so beautiful with these choices! I like all the storage decisions.
ReplyDeleteThank you! We are looking forward to seeing it all come together.
DeleteWhy are you bothering with a tub? Unless it's a deep one, it will be a skimpy, unsatisfactory soak. An accessible shower would be easier and safer for guests to use, as well as so much easier to clean.
