There is probably no other animal that is synonymous with Texas than the armadillo.
This little guy or gal was rooting around in the grass the other night. I had to get a picture. They can dig in flower beds and the yard in their hunt for grubs and other things to eat. They can carry some diseases so it's never recommended to touch them or interact with them but generally speaking, they shy away from contact with people anyway.
It's interesting to see one for sure.
An armadillo! I think they are so cute. And the Texas state small mammal.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they are very cute. We had a family burrow by our foundation and it cost a small fortune to have them relocated. I know they are still around, but at least not right by the house.

Evidently we have an (more?) armadillo invading one corner of our property. We are thinking (hoping) the Corgis might discourage them from coming closer to the house. My previous dogs absolutely went bonkers whenever they saw/smelled an armadillo.

ReplyDeleteHave seen plenty of dead ones along the side of the road but never had the opportunity to see a live one. Just don't see any where I live.

Requested by friend. I have 4 racks of baby back pork ribs to put in the oven tonight.
They all are prepared; so around midnight or so they will cook slowly in a 275 deg. oven all night long.
