RAIN RAIN AND MORE RAIN

We've had quite the rainfall the last couple of days.  2nd Family, who lives at the other end of the driveway, sent these pictures to me while I was at work. She said that 4.5" showed in the rain gauge and it was still raining.  This doesn't count the rain from yesterday which was probably an inch or two more.

So it's most likely the farm has received almost 7 inches of rain over the last two days.  These are the kind of rains we usually get in Spring around here so it's kind of unusual this time of year.  It's because of a warm front backing up from the Gulf of Mexico and bumping into a cold front coming from the other direction.  Warm+Cold=storms and rain

These are views from their yard and porch.  It was far too much to ask her to drive the quarter mile up to our house and snap a few pictures.  I'm sure we'll be out there during a monsoon and I'll get some firsthand pictures, ha.

  1. Hope everything is ok! But rain is always good, storms, not so much.

    1. Rain is wonderful but yeah, the storms I could do without (though i do enjoy a good thunderstorm on occasion). All is good in the end, and now more rain in the forecast.

  2. We have the same here too. In Europe we are experiencing relatively warmer temperatures and lots of rain - in fact it is pelting down right now!

    1. Flooded roads can be dangerous, be careful! We like the rain but not that other stuff like flooded roads, ha.

  4. It's mild here in Scotland right now but apparently we're headed for the big freeze next week :(
Hope the rain clears for you soon.

    1. Just joined your blog, going to go catch up. Well, this porch in the picture is from the family that lives down at the end of our drive. Our porch is similar though not wraparound. It is deep and wide though. 36 feet long and 10 feet deep. So we have lots of square footage.

We've had a couple of light freezes, but I think a big one is coming.

  5. When I think of Texas, this is not the sort of image that comes to mind!

    1. I know! But we do have these rainy days/weeks more often in this part of Texas. It's closer to the coast so it's more humid and tropical.
