INSPIRATION THURSDAY, CHAIRS AND FLOWERS

Chairs in a flower garden, image courtesy of SouthernLiving.com
Here is one that really makes me want something like it.  I love the border of flowers framed by the picket fence and the way the flowerbed isn't just a straight line along the fence.  It curves and flows.  But best of all, Adirondack chairs just begging to be used.  I even like the blue color, which seems to be cropping up a lot in landscaping lately.

You know what's funny, we have a spot that is currently empty, but there is a fence along the back like this (not picket, sadly) but it's also where I have planted the two pear trees and in a few years, I can see them looking like this tree and how easy it would be to plunk down a couple of chairs (I'm thinking yellow or red) and plant a bunch of flowers along the fence.  Then we could sit and watch the sunset whenever we wanted to.

Happy day!

Be inspired!

    1. This may sound odd but I've never sat in one! I've seen them but I guess never been somewhere that someone has one. Might have to just fix that, ha. :-)

  2. I am frequently ridiculed by my nearest and dearest for finding lots of places to sit in the garden and popping a chair or a bench (or the latest addition is a hammock) there and then never sitting down and watching the sun set. Good luck with the relaxation... I notice that the mag didn't put anyone in the chairs... gardeners are incapable of sitting for very long!

    1. LOL! I can imagine, I have a small bench in a little grove of trees (future pet memorial area) and I sit there on occasion to take a break and I sit there for a moment and then look around and see something else I need to do and I get distracted and go do it. Then forget what else I was working on, ha.

No hammock, YET, need to find the right two trees somewhere on the property.

    1. Mmmm, lemonade does sound good. And a book. Or a pillow to "rest" my head on, ha. You know what's funny, those chairs must be looking at something REALLY pretty to not be facing the gorgeousness behind them! LOL!

  4. It looks beautiful. The chairs would be comfortable but for me, trying to get back out of them would be a problem. I'd like something higher. The color red is one of my favorite colors. Good luck.

    1. I've wondered how hard they are to get out of. I love red in the yard and yellow. I'll have to decide which when the time comes. Or maybe mismatched, ha.

  6. I love the look, but we find adirondacks to be extremely uncomfortable for sitting more than a few minutes, unless cushioned well. I like the whole ambience, though.

  7. 1st Man,

Great look, I made something similar with potted flowers and wicker chairs.
My fence is this large metal fence my landlord put up years ago. It's a great place to relax. My only problem, I don't have these large trees right next to my chairs and flowers there further out on the property.

    1. Oooh, wicker chairs are a great idea. They hold up well outside don't they?? Hey, at least you have flowers to look at. That's on my list once I figure out a watering method.

  8. We are finding that a nice place to sit and enjoy the farm,is a good thing... working all the time which has been our way... not such a good thing :O)

    1. Ha, I understand. You are going at it much harder than we are at this point since we're still in town and only at the farm on the weekend. It's a slow progress but the two days I am there are usually all work and less play. My hope has always been that we work hard now and play later in a few years but I'm not sure there is ever that time right? Ha. :-)

    2. My recommendation would be to work a little, rest a little, and make the best of the current moment.
