SUNDAY IS A LAZY DAY

It's a lazy day today.  Yesterday I got stuff done at the farm, today it's things to do in town.  It's still in the 90's here.  Well, upper 80's with brief periods at 90 or 91.  Ugh.  I can't plant some of what we wanted in the garden because it's still too warm.

Breakfast casserole
2nd man made this wonderful breakfast casserole we've been eating on and off all weekend so far.

It's eggs, biscuits, sausage and cheese.  Breakfast (and lunch and snack) of champions, right?

Texas shaped cookie cutter
I found this cool Texas cookie cutter for 2nd Man.  He wants to make some shortbread cookies and I figured "why not Texas shaped?".

Hobart sleeping
And the cats are lazy day napping too.  Here is Hobart, sleeping on one of the pillows they love.

Brisbane sleeping
And here is Brisbane, much better now, and also sleeping on one the other pillows.  Side note, these used to be pillows in our window seat at the house, now they are cat beds, ha.

Hope you all are having a good weekend!

  2. I hope your day was/is wonderful.
    I hear you on the cat beds front. Ours claim anywhere they want as their own. Resistance is futile...

  6. That breakfast casserole looks sooo good - mmm! Good find on that cookie cutter. I'm so glad that Brisbane is back to his usual self. Yep, my kitties claim any space that they want at my house, too.
    It has been really warm, but I am going to plant my fall/winter garden this week. My nursery man planted his and it is doing fine.

    1. It has been good to eat on and off all weekend. Got the cookie cutter at HEB. It's a nice size for sugar cookies or shortbread, hopefully, ha.

      I am definitely doing the garden next weekend. I think the cool weather is almost here. thanks for the heads up!

  7. Not that warm here yesterday as it was rather chilly and Very windy. Cool enough to wear long pants and light jacket for going into town.
    Breakfast casserole looks pretty much like what I make only mine is made day / night before and placed in refrigerator overnight and baked in oven the next day. I do use half & half mixed with my eggs and top covered with cheese. Really makes a great dish when having overnight guests.
    2nd Man; don't be shy; please post recipe :}
    I do add bits of bacon in with mine which has been fried and well drained before adding to rest of ingredients
    Food in white dishes makes to very appealing to the eye plus it makes for great photos.
    Cool Texas cookie cutter to add to your collection of cutters. Cutter not just for cookies. Use to cut out Krispie Treats; use to cut out of shapes from a baked cake,(mini cakes) use in making shaped sandwiches, pancake molds, making garnishes, jello shots; etc, etc., etc. I have some really small ones that I use to cut out my homemade fudge with. Think beyond making cookies when it comes to using your cutters.

    Oh, the life of a cat; sleep all day and little devils at night. :}
    Sure glad that Brisbane is doing much better.
    Have a Great wekk

    1. I love how you think, those are great ideas for using the Texas cookie cutter. Rice crispy treats are one of my faves! And homemade fudge? Brilliant (though you're right a smaller one would make more sense, ha). We'll work on the recipe next time he makes it.

      And yes, I would love to be one of our cats...they are spoiled. rotten.

    1. Isn't breakfast good at any time of day? Growing up we routinely had breakfast at dinner, pancakes, or bacon and eggs, it was all good. Thanks for the kind words!

  10. So speaking of all your great pictures ... what kind of camera do you use and what would you maybe suggest for some old person (me) who is not all that tech savvy and also wants something more "light" to pack around when traveling? There must be some secret you young people know I haven't found ... oh ya, it needs to be pretty automatic and able to compensate for old shaky hands too! Probably more "needs" that I can't think of which is probably why I never seem to get the right equipment!!! Thanks in advance!! cll

    1. I'm not tech savvy when it comes to cameras at all. 2nd Man bought this camera for me a couple years aback. It's the Nikon D3200. I think it was about 20 megapixels or thereabouts. I wouldn't call this small but it is fairly light. You are probably wanting something without all these features. But I'll bet honest, as much as it has the capability to do, I almost always set it on "A" for automatic and go from there. Now there is also a closeup button and I use that sometimes too. It really comes down to the automatic lets it focus so you don't have to, and then just make sure the lighting is right. Sometimes it's too dark and the flash makes it too washed out. So I will move a plate closer to the window for more natural light or move it toward light. It's just playing around with what looks best. Oh and I have shaky hands too, always have, and this (or any camera look for it) what they call "image stabilization". That helps. And I take 20 photos to get just the right one too.

      Hope that helps (and if mine is a D3200, they probably have newer ones now too).
