I saw this the other day and I figured since we are all perusing the seed and plant catalogs, this was very timely, not to mention, hilarious!
THE REAL MEANING OF PLANT CATALOG TERMINOLOGY:
"GROWS MORE BEAUTIFUL EACH YEAR"
Really means that it looks like roadkill for the foreseeable future
"A FAVORITE OF BIRDS"
Really means to avoid planting near cars, sidewalks, or clotheslines
"ZONE 5 WITH PROTECTION"
Really means a variation on the phrase "Russian roulette"
"MAY REQUIRE SUPPORT"
Really means your child's engineering degree may finally pay off
"MOISTURE LOVING PLANTS"
Really means they are ideal for landscaping your bogs and swamps
"CAREFREE"
Really means more about the plant's attitude than to your workload
"VIGOROUS"
Really means it has a Napoleonic compulsion to take over the world
"GRANDMA'S FAVORITE"
Really means it was until she discovered free-flowering, disease-resistant hybrids
Oh my gosh that is TOO funny. I can totally related to most of those at one time or another.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it!! Thanks for stopping by!
Deletelol!
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked. I think anyone who's planted something can relate, ha.
DeleteThank you for a Friday smile : )
ReplyDeleteWe can all use a smile right before the weekend, right? Ha, glad I could help!!! Keep on planting!! :-)
DeleteI so agree with these! My personal terminology for a "spreading" plant:
ReplyDeleteIf I like the plant-it's prolific
If I don't like it-it's invasive!
I love those! I think I've planted some of those "spreading" plants, lol.
