Every Thursday, we like to post a picture of something we've found online that inspires us to do something similar at the farm.
Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and, hopefully anyway, recreate it...enjoy!
Back on track today after the surprising events of yesterday here in the US.
For today's inspiration, it's a small pond under a large mesquite tree. Where is this pond? Why, it belongs to 2nd Family! It's under their "party tree" which is where we got our idea for our party tree Barnabas. We don't have a pond yet but we might someday. We'll have a BIG one (lake-ish) elsewhere on the property, but as far as small, man-made ponds, this is the kind we like. 2nd Family did this over the course of a weekend a few years back and it's been going ever since.
As you can see, their ducks like it...and so does "Alice", one of their dogs. She can be found lounging around next to it on any given day. They have a pump that recirculates water through that faucet you see and it makes such a great sound when sitting around under the tree.
Be inspired!
Now that I like. Picture perfect. Looks like a beautiful painting
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful! We are trying to figure out how to make a "creek" at the lake place using a recirculating pump. We have an area where nothing will grow but scraggly weeds (thanks Alabama red clay soil) and decided it would be a perfect spot for a faux creek wandering toward the lake. Time and more vision than I have will hopefully take care of it.
ReplyDeleteNice. I would really, really love a water feature.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of the dog and duck beside the pond with the old pump! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteInspiration from right next door - can’t get any better than that.
That is so picturesque! I read about cat litter to line a little pond to keep the water from leaking out. Do they have those stones on their property? pparsimony
ReplyDeleteWe too have a pond on our property but not so neat and sweet as this one. More of a big whole with water and lots of cattails. But our ducks love it. I would so love to have some smaller puddles of water up closer to our Looney Bin, maybe next year.
ReplyDeleteI have a weakness for water features.
