Recently, I've started subscribing to seed and plant catalogs and having them sent to the farm address. That way, we can start getting regular mail out there and it'll be nice to get something fun out of the mailbox on a regular basis instead of tax bills, insurance and offers to buy our house/land, ha.
I enjoy a glass of wine or in this case, some wonderful hot tea, and a quiet night or two of perusing through the pages of a catalog. They are so fun and give us hope for the future. In the end, isn't that what all planting is about? Hope for the future? We stick the seeds/plants in the soil and we hope we get to enjoy the end result of our hard work?
Six catalogs came. I would have subscribed to just as many more but those companies are website only, no paper catalogs. It's amazing how many no longer offer print catalogs. I'm still old school and enjoy a physical copy in my hands, one that I can dog ear or highlight or circle the heck out of on the inside.
Anyone have any good gardening catalog ideas? Tools, plants, seeds, general gardening, it's all good. We don't mind on getting on some mailing lists like that, ha.
Because isn't daydreaming half the fun?
Same here when it comes to Old School (Vintage now, along with so many other things; including proper manners by some)
ReplyDeleteIt cost more to print catalogs and send out; plus makes for less paper, etc. going to landfills.
More and more looking things up now on the internet making it more convent.
Have a great day and enjoy your evening, along with the weekend and don't forget to spring forward Sat. evening. ( I wish they would have just one set time and leave it at that.
Check with Bev at Bee Haven Acres for gardening tips! I would believe she could give you some great tips for you to follow!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever delved into heritage seeds? Got into that when I was working as a park ranger and we were trying to re-create a garden from the late 1800s. We had particular luck with an outfit called Southern Exposure which specializes in seeds that do well in the South. Don't know if you're not too hot for it, but I loved honey roaster squash. Easy to grow and make a better pumpkin pie than pumpkins do!

ReplyDeleteMy daydreams for vegetables ended when critters ate it all. Now, I just plant flowers. However, I am daydreaming about planting short carrots.
ReplyDeletei still get tons of catalogs. i was out all day raking through the leaves and last years mulch looking for green things. i found a lot so i am happy! joyce
ReplyDeleteDuncraft has a catalog with bird feeding and watching supplies.
ReplyDeleteSeed Savers Exchange will send out a catalog. I buy from them every year.
ReplyDeleteI haven't received a garden catalog in years. That's what I get for ordering less and less over the years due to budget and interest changes. Love me a paper catalog* for perusing, planning, plotting but I gotta say it's nice when you can see "out of stock" as you place an order so you can look elsewhere before it's too late.
ReplyDelete* same for books and magazines - paper please! I have no idea why I can tolerate looking at blogs & forums on-line, but books, magazines and catalogs I want paper.
