Believe it or not, I photographed this spider at the farm last weekend. What the heck?
Orange like a pumpkin...
With black spikes like a scary creature...
Yep, it's apparently Halloween alright!
Be safe and eat lots of candy!
Speaking of, we always like to ask, what is your favorite Halloween treat?
What a perfect spider for Halloween! Really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI was curious as to its species. I found this:

and

It seems that there are color variations - white, yellow, orange, red.
Nature sure is wonderful and amazing!
Sorry, forgot to put the name: Spiny-backed Orbweaver Gasteracantha cancriformis.
DeleteIsn't it though? Sometimes things we see look like they could be alien to this planet but here they are, but of nature. Thanks for the info. Glad to put a name with a "face", ha.
DeleteRather a beautiful creature it is. Very fitting for Halloween
ReplyDeleteAs spiders go, it somehow seems appropriate. Thanks!!
DeleteI had to look that one up also, it's really cool and that's saying something as I don't like spiders.
ReplyDeleteI know, not a big fan either but fascinating and beautiful nonetheless.
DeleteLove the orbweaver.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween.
Isn't that a great name? Thanks! Happy Halloween to you too!
DeleteIsn't she a beauty! We have them here too called Spiny or Jewel Spiders. Sometimes I find them totally jet black. Happy Halloween to you both.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty cool. Happy day to you as well!!!
Deletereese's peanut butter cups (the BIG ones, not those piss-ant bite size ones!).
ReplyDeletecute spider; I have never seen that one before!
Ooh I love Resse's....and you're right, ain't nobody got time to mess around with those bitesized ones, ha.
DeleteI want one! I want one! If you cover it with chocolate I'll take two.
ReplyDeleteHa! Chocolate makes everything good huh? LOL! Happy Halloween!
DeleteWhat a perfectly beautiful spider! Anything chocolate!
ReplyDeleteIt is a pretty thing isn't it? Very neat. And yep, you can never go wrong with chocolate....
DeleteThe spider is appropriately orange, a good alternate for the ubiquitous pumpkin. I would hope never come face to face with this one. Anything chocolate is good for me. And Reese's are great.
ReplyDeletepparsimony
Ha, orange is odd for a spider but kinda neat. Reese's. Yep!
Deletewow...what a cool spider. i don't really like candy too much.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping you'd get to see. Pretty neat huh? I'll eat a piece here and there, and have a few favorites but if it's not Halloween, I don't think I ever just go and buy candy on purpose, ha.
