ANY SUPERSTITIONS ON THIS FRIDAY THE 13TH

"A fear of the number 13"

There are two Friday the 13th's this year.  A lot of people think it's an unlucky day and are genuinely nervous about it.  To us, it's just another day.  I will admit though that while I personally don't have any that really freak me out, if I see a ladder over a sidewalk, I will NOT walk under it, and I will actually knock on wood if I say something that requires it.  I mean really, why take the chance?  LOL!

But we don't worry about the number 13, we step on cracks, we've opened umbrellas indoor and, um, we are OWNED by a black cat, ha.

Speaking of, just recently we heard a superstition we had NEVER heard of before.  "If you cut your nails at night, it will attract ghosts and evil spirits". Um, OK...

What are YOU superstitious about?

  1. remember, you don't own cats, they own you! Dogs, on the other hand, have masters, while cats have staff.

  2. OMG; I didn't even realize that today was Friday the 13th.
In fact my calendar is still on June.
For me, it's just like any other days; some good and some not so good :} Today, so far so good.
Enjoy your day, have a great evening along with a wonderful weekend

    1. It's bad luck to have your calendar on the previous month! HA! Just kidding! Yep, just another (HOT) day.

  3. I've always considered Friday the 13th to be a lucky day for me. Perhaps only in the interest of being contrary...kind of like "whistling in the dark". My one major superstition came from my Grandmother Rosie. She told me to always stop a rocking chair from rocking when you get out of it or a ghost will come and sit in it! Needless to say, no chair is left empty and rocking in my presence! Wishing you a very lucky day today.

  4. I am not the least bit superstitious or worry about anything supernatural. It is only smart not to walk under ladders! "Knock on wood?" Who can find wood?

    1. HA! I will actually look for something wood. And you know, I wonder if the origins of the ladder superstition were about that? It's kinda dangerous, ha.

    1. Glad I'm not the only knock on wood person, ha. I will even tell customers if we're discussing something like "in case you had an at fault accident, knock on wood....".

  8. As a retired nurse the staff I worked with were split. To the newbies this day meant lots of ER visits, babies born in hallways, that kind of thing. Then there was my group, the old school gals, who raised kids and grandkids, a few husbands, and so weren't about to be scared by a silly date on the calendar. I do however NEVER hang my feet over the edge of bed. That's how THEY grab you, you know.

    2. Donna what a great memory to share from your medical days. And yeah, I can understand, don't ever look under the bed either. Especially at night, ha.

      Camille knows why! ;-)

  9. Only once did something bad happen...husband's car got damaged when a pick up pulled in front of him on the interstate in stop and go traffic. Tailgate of truck hit front end of Volvo. Hubby ok but car too bad in front and it was 12 years old....for a nice used Ford Focus. Sold car for metal...oh life. I'm not superstitious. God is in control!

    1. I hear ya!!! I'm glad hubby was ok. And yep, it could have been any day for that to happen. Sometimes we just have to have faith things are happening as they are supposed to, right? Thanks for stopping by!
