SCREENED OUTDOOR BEDROOM INSPIRATION THURSDAY

Every Thursday we like to post a picture of something we've found online that inspires us to do something similar at the farm. Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and someday, hopefully anyway, recreate it...enjoy!

SO...is this too much?  Someday building (in the tree covered area of the farm) something like this?

Maybe not quite this elaborate (though the design of this is beautiful), but something like a screened in room with a bed in it...it would be for the less humid and of course non-rainy days.  We have plenty of those in the Spring and Fall (and some in the Winter).  I've always thought it would be fun to sleep outside (used to camp and use tents and loved it) but have daydreamed about something like this.

Too weird?

Be inspired!

  1. NOT WEIRD at all!!!! I LOVE this idea! Put a metal roof on it & it's perfect IMHO.

  2. We have a screened in porch at the lake. I have considered sleeping there, but in the summer it is just too hot and we rarely go there during the fall or winter when the rains are at bay.

    1. I hear ya. We'd have several windows of the year to do it. Plus I'm a bit more cool natured to sleep and I might find it agreeable to napping even if a bit warm. A ceiling fan would be a MUST have though.

  3. Perfectly gorgeous , you could get a sofa bed and then the room would be multi purpose and way more useful. Just need a strong weather proof cover for when the sofa is left unused.
You would have to situate it where you know it gets a breeze, what fun, definitely one for the to do list....thats why you have acreage out of town, so you can do as you please.

    1. this is true! that's why we save these ideas. Makes it easier to show someone "this is what we want" ha. Yeah, furniture and rodents would be the something to be mindful of.

  5. I would use it a lot. Only problem is that the bedding would get all fusty if left out in the weather. You'd have to use a sleeping bag or remake the bed each time you used it, but it would be great for many nights in good weather, especially on nights with a gentle non-blowing rain. I'd do it, and use it a lot-especially as an occasional guest room for my more adventurous friends.

    1. Good point about the bedding. Yeah, we'd have to have a place inside the house to keep it stored safely. And we do have some adventurous friends as well.

  6. This is a wonderful idea! To fall asleep viewing the stars and hearing the night sounds, without the mosquitoes, would be heavenly! You gotta build this!

    1. The stars! I didn't think about that. Hmm, a metal roof would be nice but one WITH a clear part to look up at the stars. As long as the screens kept out mosquitos would be a must have.

  7. Screened in area; yes, but a bed hanging from ropes, no thank you. I wouldn't want to be laying in a moving bed. Put some legs on the bed then no problem.

Too much of a temptation going in to take a short nap and not getting anything done but sure does look inviting. Oh, extra guest bedroom :)

    1. My gosh, I didn't even SEE the ropes, ha. NO, no ropes here either. Just a nice stable on the flood bed, ha. Oh wouldn't a nap be nice after a day of mowing? I'm just sayin'.....

  8. I routinely take a cot out onto our covered front porch to sleep, or nap. Sleeping outside without the rain - the idea of a screen might even be better!

    1. A covered porch would be kind of nice. We've thought about some additions, a covered porch could give us the best of both worlds. Thank you!!
