Well thankfully we dodged the bullet with Hurricane Barry. Of course our thoughts are with Louisiana as they deal with the flooding that we are all too familiar with.
It has not rained here, at least at the farm. The ground is parched and cracked in a few spots. The upside is that I didn't have to mow in the heat. I watered all the fruit trees and other plants around the house and that was it.
2nd Man made some biscuits for breakfast and we had them for lunch with bacon and cheese.
There was beauty flying around in the skies overhead...
...and after dinner we splurged with some Blue Bell ice cream. It IS Summer after all...
Hope your weekend was good!
The biscuit sandwich look delicious. Wish I had one right about now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo of the bird flying overhead. I believe that is an adult turkey vulture.
Nothing beat having ice cream on a hot summer day.
That 'cookie two step' ice cream looks interesting. I'm going have to try that.
Have a great day, stay cool and enjoy your evening.
Yeah I figured that was a turkey vulture, very pretty when they are flying though. Not so pretty up close, ha. yes the cookie two step was good!!! That was my choice.
DeleteForget the ice cream. I need need need a biscuit.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! Biscuits are good anytime!
DeleteThough the biscuit looks delicious, I am a true American and will opt for the Blue Bell every single time. Here at our house, there is not a Blue Bell flavor we don't like, or have not tried. They did have one flavor named Grooms Cake. It was by far our favorite and I have not seen it again since the one day I bought it.
ReplyDeleteI do know that some new flavors are for a limited time only; like Cookie Cake, limited time period only.
DeleteBlue Bell is the bomb. You can't go wrong with it. And like you I think we've never met a flavor we didn't like ha. I wish they had all the flavors all the time. Grooms cake I've had too, it's wonderful but now that you mention it, I haven't seen it in awhile.
Deletei just made biscuits today to go with the blueberry jam i made. barry is on the way here and it is going to be in the 90's with high humidity...great!
ReplyDeleteBiscuits go with everything. And wow blueberry jam I bet that is wonderful. Yeah, y'all will get the Barry remnants but hopefully it will blow on through quickly. The high humidity though, we can relate. It's unbearable.
Deletedid you make sure the top hadn't been licked on the ice cream?
ReplyDeletepretty bird AND yummy looking biscuits!
Ugh, yes that is just horrible. They say that as long as the lid is tight and forms a bond with the ice cream that peels off, it's good. But still I think they will need to put some sort of seal on it. Too many copycats.
DeleteBeautiful picture of the bird. We got rain, two inches last night in 2 hours. I'm thinking we would have gotten more if it wasn't raining sideways. Blue Bell ice cream is okay. HEB's Creamy Creations are awesome. But if you really want a treat, then get your hands on a pint of Magnum, any flavor. It's like heaven. Real cream, Belgian chocolate, oh my my.
ReplyDeleteThanks! 2 inches, wow. That's a nice soaking rain, even if sideways ha. OK I will have to admit that we have had HEB Creamy Creations and we DO like that too . Haven't had the Magnum though. Hmm, will have to add that to the list! Thanks for the heads up!
DeleteInvite me to brunch xx
ReplyDeleteCome on by!! Next time you're in Texas of course, ha.
DeleteIt has been really dry, so I was very happy that we got .75 inch of rain yesterday. I thought you might have gotten some at the Farm, but with the scattered rain I guess your Farm was missed.
ReplyDeleteThat biscuit picture! – that looks absolutely delicious. I am so envious that you got to enjoy them at not one but two meals!
That’s a beautiful picture of the large bird flying against that clear blue sky.
Mmm, Bluebell ice cream. Sooo deliciously cool on these hot days.
Yep farm was missed. 2nd Family likes to say we have a dome or bubble that keeps away all the scattered rain. We only get the monsoons, ha. Yep, he only knows how to make a dozen biscuits or more at a time. We always have some leftover ha. Bluebell in the Summer, it's Texas for sure.
DeleteOooh breakfast looks awesome, so does dessert!!!! :) I hope you get some rain soon, we have more than enough here in the mountains.
