RED WHITE AND BLUE POTATOES

 Regular readers know that I like to take random pics of fruits and vegetables because sometimes, well, they just look so cool.

Saw these recently at the store and took the picture.  Red, white and blue fingerling potatoes.  Whoever organized these did a great job, ha.

Side note, we have always loved these smaller, fingerling potatoes, they cook quickly and add lots of interest to the plate or dish you are preparing.

I've often wondered if they are easy to grow or if it's just better to buy them at the store, ha.

Anyone ever try growing these types of heirlooms?

  1. I wouldn't think that they are any harder to grow than the regular potatoes.
    If you are able to find a package ( may have to order them on line) of seed potatoes the instructions should come with or ask a reliable person that sells them.
    Would be worth a try.
    Anything that is home grown is always better.

    Best of luck if you decide to growing these potatoes.
    Enjoy your day and have a great weekend

  2. Something I always told our daughters growing up along with our grandkids;
    " We won't learn unless we try."

  3. I’ve found them to be as easy to grow as more common varieties. I’ve grown Austrian Crescents and found that it is better to start digging them when they are a bit younger so you don’t have to peel a smaller, skinny potato, which is not the easiest thing to do. Roasted in their skins in the way to go when they are new potatoes.
