A TRIP TO 99 RANCH MARKET

Warning, picture heavy post.

We know people like to see stores that maybe they don't have in their area or perhaps have never been to.  So the other day, when we both had a day off at the same time, 2nd Man wanted to go to an Asian grocery store chain called 99 Ranch Market.

We try to go once every six months or so and stock up on whatever we need or try something new.  We hadn't been since the pandemic so it was good to go back.

Lots of produce and fresh herbs, many are products of the country of origin which means you can find some great stuff you might not see elsewhere...

They have an amazing seafood department with every kind of fish, shellfish, both local and exotic.

Likewise for meat and poultry...

A HUGE butcher counter with every kind of cut you could imagine...

The shelves are filled front to back and top to bottom with all sorts of great stuff...

Noodles and rice as far as the eye can see...

And every kind of sauce and seasoning you could possibly want...

You like Kimchi?  Take your pick!

Lot of frozen goodies as well.

They even have a kitchen section that unfortunately I forgot to get a picture of, but they sell woks and pans and bowls and utensils and lots.

It was a great way to spend a few hours inside where it's cold on a sweltering hot day.  We always love exploring something new and in the end, we get some some good food out of it!

  1. What a great market to shop at. Spending hours just looking around. I think I could spend most of the day in there.
    Enjoy your day

  2. I love the fact that they have an online store or while I'm there visiting my Step-daughter in Austin I can stop off and shop at the Ranch. I used to have to go all the way to Austin to get all my Asian groceries at a little place up there. I love Asian food and I love to make it myself. The Ranch has everything. Y'all are so luck to have one so close.

    1. Oh so you are familiar with it! Cool, its'a. great store, so clean and neat and laid out well. I used my phone with the translate live image app to check out labels as needed, ha. We are really getting into cooking Asian style recipes.

    1. It's a great store for sure and we are lucky. The next time, we're going to try a Middle Eastern store that is here too. Always fun to try new things.

  4. Live fish? Really? What kind of fish? That place looks huge. I am not much for Asian food, but it sure is impressive. I suppose another post will be made where we can see what you bought.

    1. Not a lot of live fish and honestly I'd be guessing if I said. They were smaller fish, not a lot. Also live crabs and lobsters and stuff. Maybe they count that as "fish", ha.

  7. Hi! 👋🏻 There is one in Anaheim, CA about 5 miles from me. When my boys were young (they are now 38/35) we would take “field trips” there to see the fish. Cheaper than the aquarium! Now, it makes me very sad to see all the fish jammed in small tanks. It is an interesting store, I’ll give you that! 😀

    2. Hi Judy!!! Field trips, ha. I can imagine a kid would see this and just be amazed. But I agree, I don't even like seeing fish in the pet store these days, ha. It's interesting and lots of "new experiences" for sure, ha. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!!!

    1. LOL, the infamous "International aisle" at the grocery store. I understand, even in our regular grocery they have that section and it's good for what it is but yeah when you see this it's like "Whoa!" :-)
