POWER COMPANY EASEMENT CLEARING

Every few years, the local power company comes through all the rural properties and cuts back everything that runs near the power lines and is within their ten foot easement.

Update at the bottom 7/27

This past weekend, they had done the front of our property.  This is from the driveway where we pull in all the way to the other end.  Click to enlarge, see that third pole waaay down at the end of the road?  That's how wide our property is at the front end.

My plan is to mow that this coming weekend and hopefully keep it mowed so it stays like it is.

Update: I have decided, thanks to your comments and 2nd Man's concern, not to mess with this on the new mower, at least not right now.  It should stay clear for awhile, maybe we can figure out something in the Fall.

We need the space for when we have a new fence put up along the front.  But for now, that's not a priority.  Let me just keep it cleared for a while.

Here is the other side of the driveway, the front portion of 2nd Family's property.

Oh no, we think all that clearing has angered the...

  1. Looks good what the power company has done but man, is that going to be rough mowing with your mower which is hard on a mower. From the photo looks like some mighty deep tracks made from the power company.
If you do decide to mow that area, do be careful so that you don't get your mower out of whack / unbalanced.
Enjoy your day and have a great evening

    1. Thanks, I've updated the post to add that I've changed my mind about mowing it. We'll just leave it be for now. Don't want to screw up the new mower. If I was sure the old mower wouldn't die on me, 10 acres away from the shed, I'd use it but I need to work on that sometime.

  3. At least Farm Shark can’t sneak up to you now when you’re turning onto your driveway!

  4. You have a good bit of frontage. Any shark that far out of water must be demented. Be careful.

    1. It's pretty big, the property is kind of pie shaped, or wedge shaped. The house is all the way back at the point of the pie, ha.

  5. Be careful with your fancy new mowin machine, there will likely be rocks and other debris in that normally-unmowed area .. you don't want to throw a rock through the shroud or get hurt either.
