GOOD FOOD AND HOBART SUNDAY

Almost October!  Where DOES the time go?  Today is time for some good food and some Hobart!

I found this at the store the other day:

Had no idea that Tony Chachere's had a no salt seasoning blend.  We tried it...

2nd Man used it on some Mahi-Mahi and pan seared it with just a bit of olive oil and oh my gosh it was so good.  He served it over couscous with mixed veggies.  It was a complete meal and so delicious.

And here is Hobart...sometimes he sleeps in the chair on his afghan and sometimes he sleeps on the floor next to it.  Cats are like that, choosing wherever they feel comfortable.  And of course we let him, because...

  1. I had no idea they had a no salt variety. I have never been a huge salt fan and have bought salted and non salted varieties of the same seasoning blend, then mixed them just to have a less salty version. I will be doing that with the Tony C's.

    1. Great idea! yeah, we had no idea either. Not sure if it's newer or has been around for a while but it's really good. :-)

  2. That meal looks so delicious! I use Mrs. Dash's "Everything But the Salt" and it is quite good, too!

  3. Great find on the no-salt Tony Chachere's. I’m going to look for that. It made a great blackened Mahi-mahi.
Hobart - lying on the floor when there’s a nice, soft blanket on the chair! Who can ever figure out cats?!

    1. Cats definitely have a mind of their own. Yes, I think I got that at Walmart in the grocery section. it was really good and a better choice.

  4. Using a seasoning with no sodium still makes food tasty. For 40 years, I limited sodium even though I had no medical problems to make me avoid it.

    1. I think as a whole, we all probably consume too much sodium even if we don't have am medical reason to avoid it. We never overdid on it but there is so much hidden sodium in things, it's nice to find all the low/no sodium options.
