CABINETRY IS INSTALLED NEW HOUSE UPDATE

All of our cabinets have been installed!  So exciting.  We saw them this weekend and it really makes it look like a home coming soon!  The hardware gets installed toward the end of the project.  We'll start with the mundane rooms and end with the best part, the kitchen!

Here is the guest bathroom.  The sink will be single basin with two main cabinets and then we opted for three drawers on one side and then a drawer/cabinet on the other side to maximize our storage space.

Behind the door is a built-in linen cabinet.

Here is the master bathroom cabinetry.  Lots of storage.  A sink on each side, lights and large mirrors framed in the same cabinetry wood.

This one is a little dark, the cabinet above the toilet in the water closet.

The pantry has cabinets at the end (and floating shelves).

And now...the kitchen!

Coming out of the pantry hallway, and into the kitchen, here is the refrigerator and the double oven space.

Here is the wall where the cooktop will be, vent hood and lots of storage.

Here is the front wall, where the sink will be, the window to the front porch, the dishwasher and a couple more floating shelves.

Turning around from the cooktop/oven side, here is the kitchen side of the island.  Microwave goes in the rectangular opening and a wine fridge goes in the other, bigger, open space.

Here is the front side of the island!  Glass front cabinets (they will be lit).  No glass in them yet, that happens at the end.  Right now, they are all still wrapped in the shipping plastic.

This week, they will be working on trim out which is all the other built in shelving (closets, pantry, etc), hanging  the doors, etc.

In an upcoming post, we'll have some fun pictures of open cabinets to show all the storage.

Ah...the meals and memories that will be made in here!  We can't wait!

  2. OH, how wonderful. Looks Fantastic and what an exciting weekend you both had after seeing the work that had been done. Mr. Carpenter; Great job you are doing.
I say, Christmas is coming early for the both of you. Can't wait to see the flooring put in.
Enjoy the rest of the day and have a wonderful, relaxed evening.
    Blessings to you both

    1. Nice that they put the upper cabinets all the way up to the ceiling. No wasted space that way. You can put things that you don't use often way up in the top section of your cabinets. Just make a note in small booklet on what all you have in each cabinet compartment.

    2. Thank you, it was very exciting to see. And yep, the high upper cabinets are very high up (remember, 9 foot ceilings) so it's definitely going to be stepladder worthy, ha. Great idea about the booklet! Will do that.

  3. Oh wow! I love it! That kitchen is amazing I love how your cabinets go all the way up to the ceiling. No dead space that collects dustbunnies, haha but you might need a ladder. L - Janie V

    1. Yep, our last house had cabinets that stopped and the space at the top and we just figured, why not get something out of that dead space and make it usable. So we asked them to make the cabinets go all the way up.

  5. This building project has had so few bumps. You are so fortunate to have such building expertise with your contractor. Will you share the house warming party that you'll be throwing once you're done? [We had two: one for contractors and one for family & friends in 2005.] Will you invite us?

    1. Yes, we are blessed, the driveway was the only major thing that had to be dealt with and we had to pay extra for, then an accidental painting the wrong color, no big deal there (easy fix) and then the water leak that again, happend at almost the best possible time, ha. House warming ideas of course, we will. Actually, all of our builder people that worked with us want to come see it at the final walkthrough so we'll make it a whole thing, ha. And you would ALWAYS be welcome in our house. Maybe we can have a virtual housewarming for everyone, ha.

  6. I don't comment often but we have been following along and it's all so exciting. I feel like we're building it with you. This is the part of the process where things slow down and it feels like not much is happening. I bet you are both so excited. I read every post even if i don't always comment. :-) Victor

    1. Well hello and thanks for commenting! Yes, too funny what you said about the slowing down, we've already been warned about that. Lots of things happen fast and furious and you can "see them" and then it looks like nothing is happening because the things they do are smaller, ha. Thanks again for following along!

    1. Thank you, yes we are seeing things happening and going out on the weekends makes it even more exciting because we can see big changes as opposed to if we were seeing it daily, ha.
