Time to do a little project. We ordered some furniture for the front porch.
Two boxes, two rockers, a table, some instructions and my cordless drill. Time to get busy.
Then another 30 minutes or so and we have a table in between! We put out our outdoor pillows that I bought at lunch a year or so ago for this very moment.
We love them and we have already spent a few evenings sitting out there watching rabbits, the sun, the birds, just enjoying life.
Next up will be some hanging plants (any suggestions?) and some decorative items. We are still unpacking boxes (from storage) and so we'll figure out something. We still have more room on the porch for other things so we shall see how it all turns out but for now, we are so excited and will be spending many hours out here.

Looks great! Your porch is screaming for a big ole hanging fern!
ReplyDeleteWelcoming & pretty spot! Over the years my planters have moved from hanging to the ground: easier for me to water, deadhead, etc. As they were always over gravel, I didn’t worry about water flow. Ferns, ivy if you like trailing, wave or regular petunias, many choices out there depending upon sunlight. I also used a short, 6-8”, loop of nylon cord between ceiling & planter hook, allowed for winds to spin plant vs breaking the plant’s hook. Looking forward to pics.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun spot to linger. Which way does this face? Don't you have a screened porch too?
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing finer than sitting on rockers on a porch with a coffee, or wine in one's hand. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThe new rockers and table look beautiful on your porch! And they fit in with the shutter design behind them. You did a great job assembling them. Now y’all have a wonderfully comfortable place to enjoy and relax.
ReplyDeleteFor hanging flowers, variegated airplane plants/spider plants would look pretty. They are easy care and the “babies” can be propagated into new plants. Portulaca (“moss rose” purslane) is another good plant. It’s a succulent so it will tolerate hot, dry conditions. It has colorful rose-like flowers. I have both of these plants and I love them.
Trailing herbs like thyme, oregano, and mints with semi-upright parsley in the middle of the hanging basket would be convenient for cooking and look pretty. I have this combination on my semi-shaded front porch - very handy when I’m cooking.
Are the rockers bare wood and, if so, are you going to give them a paint job? You might consider seat cushions for them and your tushes!
ReplyDeleteI like the look of those rockers
