FELINE FRIDAY

Being as I'm still under the weather, no Friday Food Debate post today.

Here's a picture of Hobart...if you can see him, ha. 

We had a box leftover from the last move that had some paper in it.  We needed the box but not the paper so we took it out and threw it on the floor while we put stuff in the box.  I turned around to pick up the paper and yep, there's a cat hiding in there.  

We let him sleep there until we were sure he was done having fun playing and sleeping in it.  

Hope you had a safe 4th of July!

KITTY CAT OF THE EAST

OK, so first of all, no cats were harmed in the making of this picture and it's not our cat ha.  

We found this online and it made us laugh.  The person took the opportunity of their cat sleeping under a cabinet (they said their cat slept there all the time) to add a pair of fabulous ruby slippers to her feet...and then boom, just like that, she became the Wicked Witchcat of the East! 

I don't think any of our cats (past or present) would stand for anything being on their feet for ANY length of time, ha.

FELINE FRIDAY

Happy Friday, we're off today, running errands again.

Many of you like when we post a pic of our sweet kitty, Hobart.

Here he is the other night, he was laying on "his" afghan (one I found a few years ago at a thrift store and he promptly adopted it) and I distracted him to get a picture (my hand up in the air wiggling fingers while using the other hand to take the picture, ha).

And yes, that basket in the background is full of his toys.

Nope.  Not spoiled.

That's our story and we're sticking to it.

There is one thing that is a fact of life; never underestimate a cat's ability to get comfortable!

  

KITTEN PRINTER FRIDAY FUNNY

OK we're probably sure you can figure out why we posted this, because it's friggin' adorable and of course we love cats!  We'll take one of each please!  What cuties.  Glad she didn't have four, that fourth one might have been invisible, ha!

Hope you are having a good week.  Our weather is still cool, we got down into the upper 20's two nights in a row.  Now it's slowly warming up.  Supposed to be 70 on Sunday.  But next week we may have storms and heavy rain on Thanksgiving Day.  

Speaking of, we can't believe next week is already time for Thanksgiving?!?  Are we ready, um, yeah sure, aren't you? 

FELINE FRIDAY

What IS it about clean laundry and cats?  

It's like a magnet...here is Hobart, about 10 seconds after I put the basket down.  I had folded half the items in there and went to put them up.  I came back and there he was, giving me this look.  Of course, instead of running him off, we let him take his nap, because, well, sleeping cats...they should be allowed to do their thing, right?

We have rain in the forecast again this weekend.  We'll see.  They could be wrong.  Let's just get through Friday first...

We saw this and had to laugh. I posted something similar a while back but this one had many more petting areas on a cat that are often so very true.     

I can say that most of these spots are Hobart tested, Hobart approved!

Took this picture of sweet, ahem, "little", Hobart while he was relaxing on the arm of the couch.  He doesn't quite fit but hey, never doubt that a cat can find a way to relax that seems uncomfortable to the rest of us.  I guess he had to hold on in case the building tilted or something.  Plus I think he was glaring at me for taking his picture while he was trying to get his nap going...

June 1st!  Already six months in?

Where DOES the time go?

WHICH END IS UP FELINE FRIDAY

So Hobart was sacked out the other day partially under the comforter in the bedroom.  

An all black cat. Black fur, black whiskers. Which direction is he laying we wondered? 

Is this his head buried in the comforter or is this his butt end?  After taking a few pics, we called his name...

OOPS!  There are his eyes...at the OTHER end.

We have to laugh because he'll be sitting in a darkened room, his eyes closed, and we can't tell if he's facing us or has his back to us.  It's just a black fur outline of a cat.  Sometimes he'll just appear at your feet when the lights are off.  We're not quite sure if he's trying to trip us.  HA!

FELINE FRIDAY

Quick post today...

Hobart (left) and Brisbane (right) "sharing" the desk in the bedroom. And why yes, that is an afghan and a blanket on top of the desk put there for their comfort of course.  

And yes, we removed the lamp, and the pen holder, and the other items so there was room.  

And they share.  Sort of.  

It was a cold day and the warm sun was so inviting, we almost laid on the floor in front of the desk.   

More later this weekend and then next week, everything back to normal with daily postings and  replies to all your wonderful comments.

KITTEN FELINE FRIDAY

We have kittens!

OK, before everyone gets too excited, I say "we" because this little girl and guy were born somewhere on our property.  I've never seen them but then again, I'm sure a large, loud mower on the property every week is not conducive to curious kittens.

"J" from 2nd Family saw them a couple of weeks ago and has been going out daily with food and water to try to tame them and bring them in. 

Yesterday, she succeeded! 

This is "Abby". 

According to "J", she's a sweet little girl who after only one day and night inside is already snuggling up for some loving...

And this is "Garth".  

He's still a bit shy but she said he runs and plays until he just falls over asleep...

Alas, we can't have them since we aren't living out there but 2nd Family is most likely going to keep them if they don't go to J's brother (he's been wanting a cat and is OK with two). Whatever happens, they will not be separated, they managed to survive together out there in the brush, in this heat, with predators creeping and flying around, so they deserve a home together. 

I can't wait to see them in person this weekend!

This is when the dove showed up and was pecking around eating the seed we had put on the balcony.  You can see it scattered around.  Notice the cats positions. 

Here it is after she had eaten up most of it.  The cats had not even moved.  They were enthralled and focused...and apparently immobile! 

SKY CATS FELINE FRIDAY

Here are Brisbane and Hobart, sound to sleep in the window more than 10 stories up.  

Of course, Hobart got the spot on the desk because he likes to stretch out and lay on his side, Brisbane takes the window ledge because the warmth feels good on his old bones. 

When we first moved in to the apartment, they were wary of the windows...now we can't keep them away. 

CAT SLEEPING HABITS FELINE FRIDAY

Cats can have cat beds...and special blankets...

and even cardboard boxes...all set aside just for their comfort.

Yet somehow, they find their way up onto the couch, into the middle of the nice pillows and turn THEM into their own comfy bed...cat hair for everyone!

But look at that face...can't be mad about that.

SLEEPING KITTIES FELINE FRIDAY

Haven't had any Friday kitty pictures lately (and several of you have noticed, ha).  

So without further ado, here is...

Brisbane, sacked out in his bed, with the sun shining on him (so he can recharge his batteries I'm sure).  So content...

And Hobart, sleeping on the rug in front of the window...in the same sunshine shining through...

And of course, what are WE doing while THEY are sleeping like this?  Working of course. To make money, to keep them in the lifestyle to which they have become accustomed, LOL!

SLEEPING KITTY, FELINE FRIDAY

There is a kitty snoozing away under this blanket...

Since he was a kitten, he's always liked sleeping under the covers.  Middle of the day, night, morning, it doesn't matter, he wants to be covered up...

It's Brisbane, our 16yr old...sleeping soundly...

The face of an angel...but awake, sometimes not so much, ha.

And this is what we call his "pink bunny".  

We don't even remember where it came from, some random cat toy...but he likes to have pink bunny with him wherever he's sleeping.

We roused him up a bit while taking photos but he just yawned, stretched and then rested his head on the edge of his cat bed and went back to sleep.

Nope.  

Not spoiled.  

At all.  

FRUSTRATED CAT, FELINE FRIDAY

Haven't had a cat picture in awhile so I thought I'd share these two.

Poor Hobart, he was frustrated with Brisbane being on BOTH of these cushions...he looked so sad when we asked what was wrong.   

So we moved them apart a bit and all was right in his world once again...

CAT ATTENTION SPAN, FELINE FRIDAY

So...Hobart spent the better part of an HOUR watching something outside...

...focused like a laser beam...

...on some terrible creature just outside the window...

Yeah...it was a flower blowing around...SCARY!

MYSTERY CAT

So last weekend, as I walked around the farm, just to take a break and check things out, I was taking photos of various parts of the property as I often do.

This was just one of the many photos I took that day.  I was back on the computer later, loading them and quite often, I zoom around in the pics to see more details.  When I zoomed in on this one, I saw a surprise:

This mystery cat!  

I did not recognize it as one of 2nd Family's cats but just in case, I sent them the photo.  Nope, not one of theirs and not one they have ever seen!

How weird is that?  I suppose with 11 acres, there could be some random feral cats roaming around at any given moment, but in the few years we've owned the property, we never seen one. It's not in any other photo either.

Ghost cat?  It sure was giving me the eye, LOL! 

Very strange but, being cat lovers, we're OK with a feral cat or two or three, especially if they start to take care of the mouse population.
