DAYTONA 500 RACE DAY

Today we are staying in town.  It's rainy and getting cooler anyway...but even if it had been a nice day, we'd give it up for some television.  We are big NASCAR fans...I know, I know, probably seems kind of odd.

2015 Daytona 500
We both enjoy the racing and watching the drivers handle those cars at such amazing speeds.  Funny thing is, we're not so much into the Indy Car or other types of racing, just enjoy NASCAR.  Could be the driver personalities and associated drama, ha.

On the menu for today is Frito Pie and Dewberry Cobbler...yum!

Of course, later tonight, The Oscars!

More sometime this evening (and will catch up on comments)!

    Enjoy your day.

    1. Chilly equals chili, right? LOL! And warm cobbler is just good anytime it's cold, ha.

  2. We aren't so much into it but do follow it loosely. I have relatives that absolutely love it. In fact, I have 2 different sets of cousins down there. One set has been down there since the 15th! They also go to Talladegha(sp?). It will be on here in the city but more like background noise for me. That is, until a wreck happens, then we both watch.

    1. Ha, the wrecks do tend to make for good TV....There is still a lot about it we don't understand, following all those points and stuff I just do't get but we still watch and root for some of them.

      Stay warm, cold is coming!!

  3. Most of AL follows racing. I don't. However, I have watched a few races out of boredom. Races are better than football.

  4. I had no idea it's Daytona day. I'm glad I didn't head in that direction, but I don't feel well enough to go anywhere.

    Love,

  6. Nothing odd about being a NASCAR fan!! Lots of the country is into it. I watched it today, too, but without frito pie - would love some of that

    1. It was a good race huh? They do get 100's of thousands at each race don't they? Ha. Frito pie is yummy huh? Especially on a cold day.

  8. Big racing fans here. Have watched Nascar racing for years; way back when Bill Elliot (my favorite driver then and still is) was driving the McDonald's car years ago and now his son, Chase will be driving the #24 of Jeff Gordon's car for 2016.
That was some exciting race. If I had one wish; I would want to go to the Biggest race of the year.........The Daytona 500
My grandkids love Frito pie or we call them Walking Taco's here.
I buy the snack size bags of Frito's and have all the fixings prepared in individual bowls. The grandkids open up the Frito bags and put in whatever fixings they want and eat right out of the chip bag.
Had rain all day yesterday and the temperature had really dropped. Noticed last night that they where already having closings for today.
The wind is blowing pretty good at the moment. With icy roads I hate the thought of hubby leaving for work today. Makes for a long trip from our place to Arlington when the roads are nasty. I'm hoping his work place will call telling him not to come in but we shall see.

    1. Yay! Wasn't it a great race? Good, no big accidents, enough changes to make it exciting. We were saying that we should might root for Chase Elliot when he takes over. 2nd Man likes Jeff and I do as too but tend to have a handful of faves.

Walking Tacos, I've heard them called that. I think that's a perfect description.

Y'all are up in the Dallas area right? My company's Regional Office is up there and we called this morning and a recording said it was closed due to inclement weather. Yikes! Y'all stay safe (and warm!)

    2. We are West of Dallas; East and South of Fort Worth and Southwest of Mansfield 7 miles off of HWY 917.
      Address is Alvarado only because we are in the Alvarado School District. Elementary school right here in the big town of Lillian :}
With the roads as bad as they where, hubby didn't go into his work places yesterday. Just wasn't safe being out on the roads.
