PURPLE BALL CANNING JARS

We're so excited (well, me probably more so than 2nd Man, ha).  I was at a local grocery store the other day, Kroger, and saw these.  They are this year's limited edition Ball canning jars in purple.  I've been seeing them since they came out a couple of months ago and they were on my wish list...but at about $12 per case, I figured I'd wait, no hurry.

So when I saw them in the CLEARANCE section, I thought, "hmm, I wonder how much?"  Then I saw a price tag on the bottom one.  $7.79.

Since they were bundled together (the box of pint jars was glued onto the box of quart jars), the price was $7.79...FOR BOTH!  If only they had more but alas, this was the only set.  The funny thing is, we saw them yesterday at another Kroger...full regular price!?!  I guess maybe the store I found them at was clearing out inventory?  Whatever the reason, their clearance is our gain.

The last three years, the Ball company has come out with special edition colored glass jars.  The first year was blue (but for some reason they only had pint size).  Last year was "spring green".  For the green ones, Ball (Jardin Brands) offered a giveaway on our blog.  I contacted them this year but haven't heard back.  Short of that, be sure and get them while you can.  Once they are gone, they will not make them anymore.  As you can see above, they are a gorgeous shade of purple.

Even if not used for canning, the are beautiful just used for flowers or as storage jars for pens, craft supplies, or even pantry staples like nuts, dried fruit or pasta.  I haven't heard if they are coming out with more, I am hoping for an amber/yellow...or maybe rose/pink.

Have you bought any yet?  What colors would you like to see?

1st Man,

Now that was a deal. It's a shame there was only 1 set of them, I would have snatched up all of them :-)

I love all the colors!!! Enjoy your find :-)

Once again, I must use reply to post. I think the blue ones came out later in quarts, maybe not. I have all three colors. I gave my daughter one of each color of the pints for her and her two children, along with the tops that have a hole for a straw.

I found a set of green on sale, but not that good of a deal.

I read this is the last edition in color, but pink/rose was what I was hoping for. Maybe Ball will change their minds.

You got a great deal. What store? Maybe they are on sale near here.

Love those colors! And what a great deal you came across!
I have the green ones that I won in your give-away. I use them for the extra lettuce and other ingredients for my Salads-in-a-Jar. I vacuum seal them and they keep over a week.

I don't can or jam or jelly, but my daughter would like those. I would buy some and send them to her if she were nice to me. She is a poopy head. I can say that here because I know she won't visit your blog. I can't say it on my blog. She reads it even though she pretends she doesn't. It makes her mad. Too bad.

Love,
Janie

They are very pretty and I almost bought them twice but they were too expensive. Will start looking for them on clearance now.

Sandy, thanks, I went all over the store looking for more, ha. The colors are all so pretty.

Linda, not sure what's going on, are you using your iPad? I will have to check with google and see whats up with blogger. I am hoping Ball will change their mind too. I'm hoping for amber/yellow. Maybe we should email, ha. Oh and the grocery store chain is Kroger...

LOL! You crack me up...sorry you are having problems with her but hey if you think she reads yours anyway, then maybe you can subtlely get your point across to her.

I'm not sure. We still have the blue and green...we used the blue ones for vases and love them for that. I'm thinking of doing next season's dewberry jam in the purple ones. :-)

Not sure what is going on. It's not our blog, it's a blogger thing. Hopefully they'll fix it soon. I never thought about candles, I bet that is pretty. Thanks!!
