CYBER MONDAY 2015

Now THIS is a day we enjoy because you can avoid the crowds!  Here it is, the "online" equivalent of "Black Friday".

Cyber Monday is when we do much of our shopping.  Shopping online is so much easier, no crowds, quite often free shipping, and now we love using AMAZON PRIME.   We have personally had Amazon Prime for over a year now.  It offers free shipping on tens of thousands of items, no more trying to make the amount add up to a certain level (currently $35 or more).  You can literally order something for $2 or $3 and that's it, you don't pay shipping AND it gets to most places in 2 days (sometimes same day shipping in certain zip codes).  There are a lot of other features, including all of the great unlimited streaming movies and TV shows they have, you get a free kindle book download every month (one book out of four or five new releases), you can borrow books (like the library), over a million songs on ad free radio stations, Prime Pantry, and much more.  But let's be honest, we love the free shipping the best, ha.

We also love eBay, Etsy, iTunes for gifts and all the other usual suspects.  It's always fun to try to find something unique as well, something vintage, something someone collects, a hard to find item.  Those can make the best gifts.

Do you have any websites for fun and/or unusual places you recommend for shopping?

Of course, I am not ashamed to admit I don't mind receiving gift cards.  How do you all feel about gift cards?  Do you like getting them for people and/or receiving them?

~Have fun online shopping today~

  1. I'm with you on the crowds. I had some last minute Christmas shopping to do a few years ago and ventured out the week before Christmas...never again! I finished all my shopping this past weekend... Black Friday isn't as big a deal here, so the stores were no more crowded than usual.

You guys are so lucky with all the benefits you get from Amazon Prime - we considered it and then realized that the Canadian version has less than half the benefits of the American one (which, unfortunately, is not an unusual occurrence)...bummer.

    1. It seems the older we get the more we don't like crowds, ha. Amazon Prime is awesome, WELL worth the price but I didn't realize they didn't have as many benefits. That's too bad. Maybe it will improve as it gets bigger and bigger. Congrats on being done!!

  2. I like getting gift cards with one provision. I don't want a gift cards to some place I do not buy, especially if I must find money to get anything.

  3. I, myself absolutely hate shopping unless it's to the grocery store or craft store. I like to receive and give gift cards that can be used anywhere unless you know the person you know has a favorite store to shop , I then will go ahead and get a gift card to their favorite store.
If I want to give a person a gift card I would much rather give it to them in person inside one my homemade cards along with a gift basket of homemade goodies of sorts.
I Will Not send gift cards through the mail but instead will do the ema version of giving a gift card.
any stcky fingrs that wll up an envelope, remove the gift card and seal the envolope back up again.

    2. Smart thinking!! I never thought about that and you can "feel" an gift card in an envelope for sure. I like the idea of putting it with a basket of homemade goodies. And by the way, is this working for you now? Commenting?

  4. I'm right there with you on Amazon Prime! I love, love, love it! Anytime I need anything I just go to Amazon, order it, and I usually have it in 2 days! I even order Gracie's cat litter from Amazon!

    1. Isn't it great? This last year has been our first full year and we've paid for it ten times only just in the free shipping. And a few weeks ago, I ordered something on a Monday morning, I had it Tuesday afternoon! It was pretty much overnight. Then add on the TV shows we watch, movies, I've downloaded 12 kindle books....it's all worth it. Never thought about litter, that would save me a trip to the store.

    1. Yes, we keep ours in a bowl in a cabinet until we need something. And my rule is to buy something fun...not something like using it for groceries, or something like that for example. We should get something special with it. :-)

  6. I love Amazon Prime also. I love the movies and of course the free shipping.
Gift cards - love getting those too - I can get what I actually need/want.
I didn't do any shopping on Cyber Monday - I've been busy for several days doing holiday baking - made 15 cream cheese rolls and a dozen strudels - some for a fund-raiser and some for the family.
