Every Thursday we like to post a picture of something we've found online that inspires us to do something similar at the farm.
Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and someday, hopefully anyway, recreate it...enjoy!
Purple and yellow flower garden, image via Pinterest |
Who knew purple and yellow and green look great together?
Oh wait!
This could be a Mardi Gras garden!
Be inspired!
Lovely, I believe they both are azaleas, the yellow one is a deciduous type of azalea, and perhaps the lavender one is too, hard to tell from the photo.
ReplyDeleteAzaleas! Gosh I should have known that. Azaleas are all over the place here. Thanks for this!!
DeleteSuch a beautiful color combination.
DeleteIf I'm not mistaken I do believe that those are azaleas; the Purple azalea ‘Elsie Lee’ along with a yellow deciduous azalea
Thanks for the ID!!
DeleteA beautiful combination of colors!
ReplyDeleteI found sites that list flowers by color: https://www.anniesannuals.com/plants/colors/
and
http://www.kapsenbergdesign.com/garden/byflowblue_bot.php
For the last one, you need to hover the tab "flower colors" and then select the color from the pull-down list.
For wildflowers by color, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center:

Flower colors and effects:

Thanks you for this. And wow, one of these days I'm gonna make it to he Wildflower Center...thanks for the links!!
DeleteBeautiful color combo. I think I miss the bluebonnets more than anything.
ReplyDeleteOh my bluebonnets just have no comparison do they??? Beautiful. Have seen a few popping up so they should be coming. Hoping it's a great year.
DeleteMardi Gras was my first thought. Last year, I planted daffodils and pinkish-purplish tulips. This year the weather is confusing them! I love the contrast of two color of flowers!
ReplyDeleteColor contrast is so nice to see. Love it.
DeleteTulips are SO pretty, alas they won't grow in our weather.
They look great. We had a 'white' garden for years. I loved the interaction of the whites and the foliage colours. I may revive it.
ReplyDeleteOooh a white garden. I love the sound of that. And isn't that similar to a moon garden? The white reflecting the light of the moon? Love it!!!
