CHRISTMAS BARGAIN IN FEBRUARY

Wait, what?

OK, since I had to work in the days after Christmas, I missed some of the always great post Christmas deals.  I've scored a few rolls of wrapping paper and some gift bags (we even find quite a few of those in the recycling area of our building, ha).  I had given up that I'd find anything fun and different until I was  coming back from the farm.  I stopped at HEB (grocery store chain) and I found these!

It's after Valentines Day and they still had these on clearance from Christmas!

They are heavy glass bottles with metal lids and hard reusable straws.  I was thinking milk and cookies, 2nd Man thought of some cool Christmas cocktail of some sort.  These are the four styles they had.

You can see here they were marked down to a $1.00.  Originally $5 each.  Because it had been so long since Christmas, the sign said "additional discount on already low price".  The cashier rang them up and they scanned at .25 cents each!

We ended up with six of them.  Yep, a whopping $1.50, ha!  We wanted eight because we always try to get things like this in a service for eight but since this was all they had on the shelf, six will have to do.

Now to pack them away until next season!

Nothing like a Christmas bargain in Spring.  But then again, I was downstairs in the recycling area and someone who JUST thrown out a Christmas tree!  And we're guessing that somewhere in a neighborhood near you, there is at least one house with the lights still up!

  1. I love the bottles and the price. Good buy! Good gift bags and leftover Christmas wrap! I would love living near a good trash room.

  2. Be gentle with the judgement about lights still up... I may know a house on my street... at the end of my very own driveway... perhaps outside my own front door where one could witness lights on display!

    1. I wonder if I can buy some online and have them delivered. Will you give me the name of the merchant, please? Should I just Google HEB?

      Love again,

    2. Janie; normally it's a one time seasonal thing and once they are sold out, that's it unless you are lucky enough like 1st man & happen to find a place that still have them and are marked down really cheap but finding them same jars on the internet now; No such luck :-{

    3. Yep, it was HEB grocery store. Each store even gets it's own inventory of stuff because some stores have very limited items other than food and other of their stores have big long aisles of seasonal items. Right now it's stocked with Easter stuff. I'm not sure they'd have them anymore. Like Colleen said it's just a random luck of the draw thing. Now at Christmas when they were in stock, perhaps. Sorry. That's why I get so excited about finding a deal like this, ha.

  6. Thank you 1st Man for posting this blog on your deal at HEB grocery. I should say you surely made a great deal. Love those bottles with the straw and they definitely will serve good during summers for a nice cool drink. I do understand your sentiments behind buying eight numbers but I guess it was only destined for six this time and they really look amazing and usable. Your journeys has been very overwhelming.
