BOBCAT SIGHTING

Well, apparently it's a regular Animal Kingdom out here at the farm, ha.  The other morning I went outside from the back door of the garage and I saw movement.  When I realized what it was, I quickly went back inside and I took this picture.

Kind of hard to tell here, he/she ran back there and then looked at me looking at it...

Can you see it there by the fenceline running?  Let me zoom in...

Here it is.  A bobcat!  I wish I had a clearer picture but I was inside taking it through the window.  I did enhance it some so we could make out features.  Then I found a good comparison picture online...

Here is a better picture of what they look like!  You can't deny, what a beautiful animal.

2nd Man said no "here kitty kitty" with this one!

  1. Nice kitty, kitty. Hopefully you won't find it lying on your back or front porch.

The last thing that I bet you expected to see was this type of visitor on your birthday.
Bobcats won't attack humans, but it can happen if they feel threatened or cornered
n any way but yet is something to watch out for when you are out mowing or working around your fruit orchard. You just may have to start caring a club with you when working outside.

Happy Birthday 1st Man. You have an enjoyable day and have a blessed evening.

  2. I have a brown tabby cat who likes to jump at the chickens and scare them. So one day I hear the chickens fussing and go see a cat staring at them so I yell "Laurence, cut it out!" then notice a stubby tail flicking! Then it's immediate yelling for the dogs as I'm yelling and charging waving my arms at it! There have been bobcat grabbings of my bantam chickens over the years so if you plan on free range chickens it's something to think about.

  3. About 10 years ago, I was walking next door where my MIL lived with our younger son and looked down because something caught my attention. It was a huge hairball like a cat would cough up but much, much larger. I got a zip lock bag and a glove so I could pick it up and show it to family. DH called the animal control guy for our county outside Richmond, VA and he came to look at what I'd found. To our consternation, he said it was from a mountain lion that had passed in the night. YIKES! We've never seen such again and that's okay by me.
I'd say your outside cats are in danger.

    Hugs!

  4. As exciting as it would be to see a bobcat, they are opportunistic predators. If it and your feral cat’s territories overlap, not good for the ferals.

  5. Your collection of wildlife sightings and photos is continuing to expand! It might be interesting to put out a few more trail cams around your yard. Hoping the Bobcat is the largest feline that shows up and that his bigger cousins, the mountain lion and the black panther, don’t come around. Both of which have been seen by my brother and my sister around their rural homes.
Happy Birthday, 1st Man! 🎉 Hope your day is filled with love, laughter, and some delicious cake!🎂

  6. You might need to think about fencing your property with a two-inch woven wire fence. Once your fruit tree starts to produce or a garden the animals will have a new place to get dinner.
