Here's a poster that appealed to the patriotism in America. The message was supposed to reassure citizens that there was no food shortage. Apparently, this poster was designed to instill confidence with the public in the Agricultural Adjustment Administration that paid farmers to take some of their land out of use. You can read about that in this Wiki entry HERE.
What, the government trying to convince something is good when it might not actually be? I'm shocked, shocked I tell you. LOL!
Hope you are having a good weekend. Results of the giveaway later today.

Love the poster.
ReplyDeleteHate what the USDA department of ag has done to small farmers, those of us who raise the best food.
I understand it's pretty bad, I need to read up on the issue. Seems nothing ever changes huh? :-(
DeleteAmen to that, Donna. My Dad who is 92 and a small farmer most of his life (until he finally retired) always said it was because they feared the farmer could control everything (the hand that feeds you and all that). Judging by the small farmers I have known all my life, we would be a helluva lot better off and the country would be in fine shape with them running things. He also told me at least 10 years ago this country was headed towards another civil war. At the time I thought surely that cannot happen. Today, I am inclined to believe it is closer than we think.
ReplyDeleteAmen here too. Both of my Grandparents (and several generations back I understand, were farmers, most full time, some part time and I'd put any of them in charge of running things, ha. OMG about your civil war comment....this is crazy, but my Grandfather on my Mother's side, used to say that he didn't think he'd see it in his lifetime and probably not my mothers lifetime but he said that in my lifetime, I would see something like a civil war as well. Both had and my Mother have passed (he lived to 90) and sadly, I wonder what we are heading toward? One reason I want a place out in the country too. Thanks for the comment, it is appreciated!
DeleteGet your ducks in a row, people. I am truly afraid that we are very close to the time where we will either have to knuckle under or be in a position to be self sufficient and even then it is not going to be easy and will surely get very ugly before all is said and done. God, help us.
