My garden that I use to tend was next to the cow pasture at my Mom's. I used to sing to them and talk to them all the time. There was one in particular that I came to just love. Any time she saw me she would come running and of course I would give her treats. My mother said she could stay there on the farm the rest of her life. Well, my Mom passed away almost two years ago and right after that my brother took her to the market which was really to a slaughterhouse and sold her. Needless to say, I have never gotten over it and I will never forgive him for that. I've also given up beef. I may have eaten one burger and one steak in the past 6 or 7 years, and none since my cow went to that awful place. I guess my warning is to not get to attached to them. Believe me it is easily done!!

DeleteI've found cows to be very curious creatures. They watch me all the time when I'm outside. Definitely nice company. :)
ReplyDeleteThe more I'm 'around' them, I've noticed that as well. And, shhh, don't tell anyone, but I find myself talking to them at times.
