We saw this online the other day and it sparked debate in our household. 2nd Man likes white meat the best, the breast and the wing. His least favorite part is the thigh.
I on the other hand love the dark meat. Thighs are my absolute favorite, to me it's the perfect piece of chicken with the most flavor. He will eat thigh meat if it's chopped up and included in a recipe but just fried chicken? Nope. The thighs he leaves for me. I'm fine with that. I leave the wings for him.
SO good readers, what part of the chicken is YOUR favorite?
I prefer the dark meat of the chicken and hubby is a breast man kind of guy.
ReplyDeleteI will eat white meat when used in some type of a casserole dish or used in making homemade chicken salad sandwiches.
Breast and wing. I agree, the thigh is more flavorful in a recipe, but for fried, breast and wing win.
ReplyDeleteBreast and leg. I won't eat thighs, they seem to have to much fat on them. There is not enough meat on wings to make them worth counting as an actual piece of chicken, haha.
ReplyDeletelegs & thighs!
ReplyDeleteI prefer the dark meat. White meat tends to be too dry, especially when fried.
ReplyDeleteWith you liking dark and 2nd Man liking white - that makes for a Happy Household! Each gets his favorite and all parts are used.
ReplyDeleteI like the dark meat - so, legs and thighs. They have more flavor and are not dry. But, like Colleen, I’ll eat the white also if it’s in a soup or some other dish mixed in with other ingredients.
I think too often the breast meat is dry. I prefer the thigh but also love wings. When baking a whole chicken I eat the tail piece - delectable!
ReplyDeletemost chefs will agree with me when i say the wing. but not the drumstick part. the flats, the other part of the wing are the most flavorful!
ReplyDeleteAlex loves the white meat, I love the dark meat. A perfect match lol! I agree though, the dark meat is the most flavourful, but Alex finds it "gamey". I think it's because there is more fat in the thigh/leg so it's just naturally yummier! But...when I'm making fried dinners like fricassee or even for fajitas, I prefer the white meat! Don't try to make me eat a fried chicken breast though...fried chicken leg EVERY time!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThighs! All the time! I even buy boneless skinless thighs and use them all the time.
ReplyDeleteWing and thigh are my favorite but I will eat a piece of breast met now and again.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Colleen, and thigh has more meat, is moist and not dry or stringy.
ReplyDeleteBreast. And I don't have to share with anyone.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I like them all as long as it's cooked! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhite meat for us, although I have been known to eat dark meat of rotisserie chickens.

ReplyDeleteWe have the perfect setup too I eat the white meat and my husband eats the dark. However, he will take my leftovers and clean the bones until they look like they have been in the desert for years.
ReplyDeleteI like dark meat, personally. I live in the UK and we are told that chicken meat sold in the US is generally treated with chlorine - presumably you do have organic chicken sold there though! Should I be worrying about chlorinated chicken being sold to the UK in the future undercutting the price of our Uk chickens? What are your views? (I know you appreciate good food and good animal husbandry!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how many couples are compatible in one liking dark and one liking light isn't it? My husband will eat chicken of any type, 24/7, but given a choice, he likes legs. I like the breast meat, preferably boneless skinless, but I have weird "rules" regarding meat having been raised almost vegetarian. 1. can't look like it used to look. 2. no skin, no bone, no obvious fat, if I see veins or gristle I'm done eating. 3. hamburgers and steak - well, roasts and pretty much everything must be medium well. I it bleeds on my plate I'm done.
ReplyDeleteStrange how one's taste changes. I used to adore the white breast, but now I prefer dark meat. But I will eat both with pleasure. Roderick
ReplyDeleteThighs!
ReplyDeleteI like the breast meat and second leg if there are no breasts. I find wings annoying, all bones no meat, just makes me feel hungrier lol.
