So I made it out there early Saturday. Got there about 8:15am, it was a little overcast at first and reasonably "not as hot" as normal, ha.
Above is what I was looking forward to.
Power was finally hooked up to the house and the temporary pole was removed. During that time, there was a wire running over the ground to the well. I couldn't mow near it because, well, live electrical wire. Finally, the builder was able to move the electrical for the well from the temp pole and wire to an underground line that runs from the house to the well. Above is that wire safe and disconnected.
Here is the before.
The foreground is where the pole was and the grass all along the back toward the well that I could not mow. I had to mow several times with the mower deck lifted up and driving very slowly. Then I went back over it a couple of times with the mower deck back down.
And here it is after.
Lots of grass mulch but it will blow away in the wind and/or just add nitrogen to the existing grass. At this point in this August heat, we don't really care, as long as it's mowed, ha.
I used the trimmer to clean up around the well since the wire is gone now. I also mowed around it as much as I could, there was still some soft ground where they dug the trench for the power to the well.

So glad that the electrical wire got buried and you were able to get that area cleaned up. And you could cool off with a fan afterwards.
ReplyDeleteIt's the little wins in life, right? Ha!
DeleteWill you be putting up a shed or something to protect the well unit? Kris in Ohio
ReplyDeleteOh yes, will have a post on that soon. Probably right after we close, certainly before winter. Found an insulated one that is made for protecting well head and such.
DeletePatience! Soon everything will be done and you can do all the jobs you want with no interference of anything construction, plus there will be no drive!
ReplyDeleteRight? I was thinking about that, all these trips back and forth have to do what I can before it gets hot, no more of that. I'll be out there to work on it as I can. Early morning, late evening, mow one part one day and another part another day...and best of all, cold a/c and a shower afterwards! Oh and some really good food and drink, ha!
DeleteMowing does help make the place look cleaner!
ReplyDeleteyes, and once they are gone and all is back to our new normal, I'll be able to keep it that way, ha.
DeleteLittle things like getting the electric wire buried and getting some power to the house, etc. gets you that much closer to move-in time. It's count down time now.
ReplyDeleteAnyone lined up yet to build your well 'barn' house. Need to find someone who is a good 'handyman' and enjoys working with wood. Cute to have a small barn to match your 2 sheds. "The Well Barn'.
Yesterday early morning hours. Had wind, lots of lightening and heavy rain. All the thunder woke me up around 2 AM. We received 1 and 3/4 inch of much needed rain along with a few deg. cooler temperatures. The other day, the temperature hit 104 deg. and No breeze.
Enjoy your day, have a great evening and enjoy the remainder of the week.
Take care, stay safe and keep cool
Blessings 2 U both
Yes, things are moving along quickly. Closing will be late September, maybe October. Can't believe it. And yes, will have a little building over the well, working on that. :-)
DeleteWe had some big storms yesterday but they moved through quickly. And yes it's hot, ugh. Dog days of Summer for sure. Stay cool and safe too!
