Well in years past, the big Winter storms we've had were while we were in town and the farm was out there by itself. Many times, too many
Ice and sleet predicted for everyone, almost all the way to the coast...
Temps in the upper TEENS for us. Brrrr!!
But the plants are safe inside...
We moved stuff around and got both cars in the garage so they'll be safe from the elements.
Bill will have to stay outside but I took him for a long drive to move fluids around, get it warmed up and charge the battery well. Parked between the two buildings it stays sheltered from North winds.
Our attic is super insulated so we shouldn't have to worry about the few pipes that run through it. We have temp sensor up there to keep an eye on things.
Stay warm.
Stay safe.

Hope you don't lose power.
ReplyDeleteDon't you have a back-up generator in case you do lose power? I thought you got one!
ReplyDeleteSaturday night and it is 16° and snowing in S. Colorado! 🥶🌨❄️
Was thinking about you both today with this nasty weather going through the state. It's like giving your home the cold weather test. Hopefully everything is sealed up good; no cold drafts coming in etc. Heat feeling nice and toasty?
ReplyDeleteWe are getting more sleet here and the ground is covered 1st with rain, sleet and ice, then a light coating of snow and now more sleet coming down. Needless to say, not much traffic going by today. We're just hoping our power doesn't go out.
You both stay safe and stay warm.
Blessings to you both
Here today it has been 40c or 104f
ReplyDeleteGlad you all are warm and safe. We awoke to freezing rain expected to continue for the rest of the day and into the evening. I have to say though, that at 28F this morning, it feels warmer than yesterday!
ReplyDeleteHere in Iowa we woke up Friday morning to a -42° windchill. A nice cup of hot chocolate with a shot of brandy in it does wonders.
ReplyDeleteUp until yesterday they were calling for us to get 1/4 inch of ice, but the storm went north of us and we were spared the anxioiusness of tree limbs falling and losing power. I hope you have a pretty winter wonderland and kept your power!

ReplyDeleteYour new house is insulated very well, so you have no worries there. Hoping the power stays on.
ReplyDeleteI spent two afternoons covering up my garden, fruit trees, and flowers. And more time moving firewood closer to the house and more time with other prep. I am not a fan of cold weather.
