NOT MUCH YARDWORK THIS TIME OF YEAR

Staying in town this weekend.
Need a break and it's a special weekend anyway and there is not much I can do at the farm this time of year.

We started the day with these unhealthy but utterly delicious bites.  They are mini sausages wrapped in bagel dough and then baked to golden perfection.  Before you ask for the recipe, ha, we bought these at a local bakery.
Decadent and yummy...

The grass is barely growing...

...and the ground is cracked in places.
But that is all about to change...

These are the storms that are currently inundating Southern Louisiana with flooding...they are moving this direction.  It is supposed to be here this afternoon and all day tomorrow.  The farm will get water for sure.  Some of our blog friends are in Louisiana so we are sending good thoughts to them and reminding them to stay safe and stay out of harms way.  We know all too well about flooding danger.

More later!

  1. We also have cracks in our yard but not as bad as we have had in years past and we had some cracks that where 3 feet deep and about a foot wide. That was only just a few years ago when we received no rain and only mowed our yard about 3 times that year.
    Have an enjoyable weekend.
We did have a very; and I do mean a very light shower last night but we did reach a record high yesterday of 107 deg.

    1. Wow, that's some big cracks. In the year of the great drought, 2011 (?) we had that. It's crazy. More rain coming tomorrow.

    1. And now we know we've gotten more rain. And more coming tomorrow. The cooler temp, even if 80's or low 90's instead of 100's is ok. ha.

Be careful with the rain coming your way. Too many people have been experiencing flooding in Louisiana.

  8. Isn't Mother Nature fickle? We have had rain almost every day since July 4th here in South Mississippi. Yard work and gardening are a scheduling nightmare. Good luck and stay safe. Catherine in south MS.

    1. Thanks for stopping by Catherine! I've heard about MS having rain like that. It's crazy. We had that in the Spring...I think it was weeks with rain almost every day (and way too much flooding too). That's how we got behind in the garden. Starting earlier next Spring! Thanks!!!

  9. We had something similar (the little sausage bagel bites) at my nieces graduation party. They were a huge hit and quite tasty!
