STORING CANNING JAR RINGS AND LIDS

Since it was still hot and humid outside, it was a good time to do some things inside.  One thing is since I cleaned up all the clutter last year, it was time to start organizing.

One thing we had was a box or two full of random canning jar rings and lids.

Recently, I found these large "decorative" Mason jar storage jars. I believe they were most likely made as canisters for the kitchen but I had a different use for them in mind.

I figured they would make the perfect storage for that mess of lids and rings!

Since the lids take up less volume, I used the shorter one...they fit perfectly.

The taller one is perfect for the rings.
They also fit perfectly!

Now they can sit on the shelves in the mudroom and look nice while functioning as easy and quick accessibility to canning supplies.

Never hurts to be organized AND pretty at the same time, right?

  1. Nice jars and making good use of them using for storage.
You sit them right on the shelf with your other canning supplies and everything will be handy when it comes time for canning.
    Speaking of canning; I will be canning up more Candied Jalapeno's soon, but first, need to go buy more jars. I hold my canned Candied Jalapeno's hostage till my daughters return my empties. :}

    1. LOL hostage!!! That's funny. I tell people that I need the jars back if they aren't going to use them. It's nice to get them back. And yep these will be handy for sure.

  2. That is exactly how I store my lids and rings--in a tall gallon jar, but it think it is a pickle jar. Plus, the lids and rings are all in one jar, commingling. I think they reproduce some days.

  7. By the way; love the 2 tone colored jars.
Well, yesterday was in process of getting our yard mowed and it started to pour down rain so needless to say; got rained out and yard only partially mowed but needed the rain.
Received 1 1/2 inches so that should really give a nice boost to my pepper plants as if I need more peppers.

  8. 1st Man,

Those decorative jars are a great find for storing your canning jar lids and rings. I have too many canning supplies, and tend to use large bins to store my clean jars, rings, and lids. The bins also make it easy to transport the canning materials when traveling or moving.

    1. I'm thinking that someday I'll have more too. This holds a lot but it's getting full and I know I might need more at some point. Thank you!!!
